There were several notable team performances and stats this weekend. One standout came from new boys Rayo Vallecano who built on their 4-0 win over Granada on matchday 3 with an impressive showing at Levante. They registered 22 shots and 2.77 xG in Valencia and really should have won the game.

Cadiz vs Real Sociedad also predictably descended into a game where the away team utterly dominated possession. La Real enjoyed 77.6% of the ball, the highest possession share any team has had so far this season in LaLiga. Cadiz meanwhile set a season low of 56% pass completion having done likewise on MD3 when they completed only 58% of their passes against Osasuna.

There was another excellent result for Valencia who have made a terrific start to life under Jose Bordalas. They did massively over-perform their xG this weekend though with some excellent finishes sealing victory at El Sadar.

Real Sociedad’s dominance of the ball against Cadiz is further highlighted by the fact that La Real’s Robin Le Normand actually completed more passes (104) than the entire Cadiz team (100). He was also key in the air, winning more headers than any other player in LaLiga this weekend.

In terms of key passes, it was a player from another Basque club that stood out. Iker Muniain ran the show for Athletic against Mallorca, completing no fewer than seven key passes. No other player in that game managed more than one.

Sorare LaLiga Fantasy Team of the Week

LaLiga team of the week

Real Sociedad’s central defensive pairing of Robin Le Normand and Aritz Elustondo were the standout performers at the back this week. We’ve already cited Le Normand’s incredible stats but he was outscored by Elustondo who registered an assist as he set up Mikel Oyarzabal for La Real’s opener at Cadiz. Oyarzabal, who scored twice, was unfortunate to miss out on the team of the week due to some other outstanding attacking displays.

It wasn’t a particularly high scoring week for the midfielders. However Carlos Soler features in the team of the week for the third time already this season with the Spain international in fine form for Valencia. Guido Rodriguez was the highest scoring midfielder while late match winner Thomas Lemar made the team despite only starting on the bench for Atleti.

Up top, Real Madrid feature prominently while there was also a top score for Iker Muniain (listed as a forward on Sorare) as he starred for Athletic against Mallorca.

Sorare Player of the Week: Karim Benzema (100)

Karim Benzema became the fifth player this season in LaLiga to score a perfect 100. His hat-trick helped Real Madrid come from behind to demolish Celta Vigo 5-2 and the Frenchman is arguably now the best player in LaLiga following the departure of Leo Messi.

Sorare is a Fantasy Football platform with one of the most advanced scoring matrices. All players are scored from 0-100 based on performance. You can read our latest Sorare content here to find out more about it.
