After a relatively slow start to the season in terms of goalmouth action in LaLiga, Sunday finally produced some real drama with 16 goals scored in the 4 games and last gasp drama in a couple of matches. Aïssa Mandi’s nightmare own goal ensured Atleti rescued a deserved point from their home game against Villarreal. The Madrid club had 23 attempts on goal to their opponents’ 2 but Villarreal looked to be on course for a shock winner thanks to new signing Arnaut Danjuma’s strike.

There was an even more dramatic finish at the Nuevo Mirandilla as Osasuna scored two Stoppage Time goals to turn defeat into victory at Cadiz. Sunday’s action also saw a big win for new boys Rayo Vallecano over Robert Moreno’s Granada while Barcelona had to work hard but ultimately edged out Getafe at Camp Nou.

The Friday and Saturday games didn’t provide quite as much excitement but there was a really encouraging display from Valencia who notched the most xG of the weekend in their 3-0 win over Alaves.

There are some familiar names topping the individual stats this week. As was the case on Matchday 1, Sevilla full-back Marcos Acuña topped the key pass rankings with 6 in the draw against Elche. No player has completed more key passes in a LaLiga game this season.

Vini Junior continued his lively start to the new season by completing seven dribbles for Real Madrid at Betis on Saturday night. Meanwhile Joselu won more aerials for Alaves on Friday than any other player has done this season in a Spanish top flight match, although his efforts very much went unrewarded as the Basques slumped to a heavy defeat at Mestalla.

Javi Galan, one of the most exciting summer signings, showed he is more than just an attacking full-back by recording the most successful tackles by a player in a single match in LaLiga so far this season. Nemanja Maksimovic also recorded a season high 7 interceptions for Getafe in their defeat at Barcelona.

Sorare LaLiga Fantasy Team of the Week

LaLiga matchday 3 review

It was a good weekend for full-backs with the best four defenders all playing out wide. That included Real Madrid youngster Miguel Gutierrez who put in a composed display for Los Blancos in the 1-0 win over Real Betis. That was a victory which came courtesy of a goal from right-back Dani Carvajal who had a positive impact on his return from injury.

Two Rayo Vallecano players make the Best XI with Santi Comesaña and Oscar Trejo both shining in their 4-0 victory. Carlos Soler and Frenkie de Jong also both feature for the second time this season with the former rewarded for his strong start to the 2021/22 campaign with an international call-up.

Up front Goncalo Guedes leads the line after scoring in his team’s 3-0 win in what could yet prove to be Guedes’ final game for Valencia with the Portuguese international being linked with a move away.

Sorare Player of the Week: Marcos Acuña (100)

The player of the week was Marcos Acuña who contributed those six key passes for Sevilla and also provided the cross for Youssef En-Nesyri to score in the Andalusian side’s draw with Elche.

Sorare is a Fantasy Football platform with one of the most advanced scoring matrices. All players are scored from 0-100 based on performance. You can read our latest Sorare content here to find out more about it.
