Cadiz vs Osasuna Preview

Osasuna travel all the way south to Cadiz on Sunday as both teams play their final LaLiga games before the international break. They are among a group of eight teams to have drawn both of their opening fixtures and another tight game is expected here.
Cadiz are hoping to avoid a case of second season syndrome following a very successful return to the top flight. They’ll be relatively content with how they’ve started. A 97th minute leveller by Alfonso Espino earned them a dramatic late point against Levante in their opening game before Cadiz took an excellent point from their trip to Betis last time out.
That was a Friday night match so they’ve had plenty of time to prepare for this and work out a game plan to try and get the better of Osasuna. Cadiz had just 25% possession in the Betis game which suggests there is no intention to make any radical changes to how they play this season. A home game against a team like Osasuna though does bring with it an element of greater expectation for them to try and dictate the play a bit more and it’ll be interesting to see how Alvaro Cervera decides to approach it.
Osasuna are yet to score or concede a goal this season. Espanyol and Celta Vigo have both visited El Sadar and left with 0-0 draws, with the latter very fortunate to do so on Monday night. Osasuna should have won that game with Ruben Garcia missing a penalty while Chimy Avila went close on two occasions in Stoppage Time. Jagoba Arrasate would have been pleased by the level of dominance they had against a team tipped to push for Europe, but will know that it’s a results business and they’ll be desperate for that first win here.
The Pamplona club did a lot of smart early business this transfer window and their squad looks relatively well balanced so it’s unlikely we’ll see a great deal of late activity with the deadline next week. They do have some good options in attack now with Avila fit again and having spent big on Ante Budimir earlier this summer, so it should only be a matter of time before they start converting chances into goals.

Cadiz vs Osasuna Predictions
Score Prediction: Cadiz 0-0 Osasuna
This could develop into something of a chess match with Cadiz’s tendency to defend deep making it tough for Osasuna to create chances while the visitors are unlikely to be opened up too easily at the other end either. Don’t rule out a third goalless draw of the season already for Osasuna.
Fantasy Football Picks
- Fanteam – Nacho Vidal
