Espanyol vs Levante Preview

Saturday’s action in LaLiga kicks off at the RCDE Stadium. It features an Espanyol side that is going very nicely at home and one that will be confident of putting three more points on the board against winless Levante.
The main challenge for Vicente Moreno at the moment is trying to convert positive home results into success on the road as well. They’ve won 5 of their last 6 at the RCDE Stadium but are yet to taste victory away from home this term in LaLiga with just 3 of their 20 points coming on the road. That challenge will have to wait for another day though and for now Moreno will be content to just keep the momentum going on home soil.
There is a clear spine emerging in this Espanyol team with the likes of Yangel Herrera now settling nicely into the team after a delayed start due to injury. They look to have added a bit more quality compared to last season without disrupting the rhythm of a team that cruised to promotion from the Segunda Division.
The second tier is exactly where Levante will be heading unless their long wait for a win ends before too long. It’s now 24 winless matches in LaLiga for the Valencia side after a goalless home draw against Osasuna last time out. That game was their second under interim boss Alessio Lisci, the first being an 8-0 Copa del Rey win at minnows Huracan Melilla.
Those results have seemingly been enough to convince the Levante board with Lisci announced as their coach until the end of the season. It’s a big gamble with the Italian inexperienced and just 36 years old and he has a massive job on his hands in trying to keep this team in the division.

- The last 6 meetings in Barcelona have produced 2 wins each and 2 draws.

Espanyol vs Levante Predictions
Score Prediction: Espanyol 2-0 Levante
Espanyol are looking really solid on their own ground and it’s hard to look past the hosts here with Levante continuing to struggle for results. The visitors may have to wait until next weekend’s Valencia derby to try and stop this long winless streak.
