Celta Vigo vs Alaves Preview
On Saturday we are in Galicia as Celta Vigo host relegation threatened Alavés in the Estadio de Balaídos. We should be in for an eventful game in which anything could happen.
Celta look likely to finish in the bottom half of the league this season. Head Coach Eduardo Coudet was hoping his side would go one better than last season’s eighth position and get into Europe but with recent games not going their way, it is not going to happen.
In their last outing they drew 1-1 with Granada, equalising late on in stoppage time to snatch a draw. A top ten finish is still on the cards but Los Celestes need to get back to winning ways. Alavés are in 19th and desperately need points. Head Coach Julio Velázquez said his side would fight right until the very end. A huge 2-1 win against Champions League semi-finalists Villarreal in their last outing shows that his side are up for the fight. Goals from Victor Laguardia and Gonzalo Escalante were enough for the three points.
That win will bring renewed confidence to the Alavés players. A win here would be huge and potentially could put them on the same number of points as Granada if they are to lose their game.
