Granada vs Real Betis Preview
This is an all-Andalusian affair and it’s a fixture that has produced six red cards in the last three meetings. The most recent of those was over two years ago so any lingering bad blood between the two teams may have cooled a touch but there is still plenty at stake. Granada have the enormous incentive of knowing they will go to the top of La Liga if they win this game due to the postponement of the Clasico. Betis meanwhile need a result as they aim to turn their season around.
Only Barcelona have won more matches in La Liga this season than Granada and that represents an incredible start from a side who many had tipped to struggle. They’ve been a real breath of fresh air so far and despite a few injury problems they still managed to see off Osasuna in their most recent match. While it’s inevitable that they will hit a downturn in form at some point, they’ll move onto 20 points if they win this game and it’d be almost inconceivable that they could end up being sucked into any kind of relegation scrap from that position.
Betis started the season with much loftier ambitions but they’ve already been dealt several reality checks. Defensively they’ve been very poor and have conceded four more goals than the side with the next worst defensive record. They’ve already shipped five twice on their travels this season and the problems from the back end of Quique Setien’s reign linger on with pressure growing on his successor Rubi.
The visitors do have plenty of goal threats in their side at least with Nabil Fekir and Borja Iglesias not to mention La Liga’s current top scorer Loren Moron. However they won’t make any serious progress until they tighten up at the other end and Granada will be out to exploit those issues here.
Granada vs Real Betis Predictions
Score Prediction: 2-1 Granada
Betis still don’t come close to convincing under Rubi and you sense this could be another damaging defeat for them. Granada’s bubble will burst eventually but they carry all the momentum into this game and they look capable of chalking up maximum points.
