Valencia vs Leganes predictions

Valencia vs Leganes Preview

All eyes will be on the Mestalla on Sunday with some form of demonstration against the club’s ownership at least possible following the club’s sacking of Marcelino. It has been a very busy week at Valencia, starting with a meeting in Singapore and culminating in a victory in London that may just ease some of the anger on the terraces here. Leganes will be aiming to use any discontent to their advantage but they head to the Mestalla as the only team in the division yet to pick up a point.

Valencia will certainly be expected to win the game as Albert Celades looks to stamp his authority on this squad. He would have been thrilled with the outcome at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night and Valencia now look in a strong position to qualify for the knockout stages of the Champions League. They’ve only picked up one win so far in La Liga though, that coming in Marcelino’s last game at home to Mallorca.

As for Leganes, Mauricio Pellegrino will be starting to be a little concerned after another game slipped by without even a point last weekend as they were beaten 3-0 at home by Villarreal. On paper, this is the strongest squad the club has ever assembled but it’s not really clicked yet for one reason or another. They did add a number of players late in the window and while several of those were at the club last term, it may have taken many of them a bit of time to build up to full match sharpness.

The pressure will be on the hosts here but Leganes simply can’t afford for this four game losing streak to extend much longer given they are already 4 points off safety. Guido Carrillo is one of those returning players who is stepping up his fitness bid and he’s an option here should Lega want to play with a target man in attack. They aren’t likely to make radical changes though against a Valencia side who may recall the likes of Maxi Gomez, Goncalo Guedes and Ferran Torres for this game.

Valencia vs Leganes Predictions

Score Prediction: 2-0 Valencia

Valencia could easily have buckled under the stresses and strains of a difficult week on and off the pitch in West London in midweek but they showed their character and that same attitude will serve them well here. Leganes will inevitably be low on confidence and having lost their last 6 league matches overall, it’s hard to see them getting a result.

Valencia vs Leganes H2H

  • Last 6 meetings: 4 Valencia Wins, 2 Draws.
