Saturday’s clash from Valencia sees Levante aiming to make it 3 wins from 3 at home this season. They will fancy their chances of doing just that against an Eibar side that has got off to quite a slow start. The Basques are very much established at this level now but defeat here would really start to raise a few questions as to whether this might be the season in which they are dragged into a relegation scrap.

The omens don’t look particularly good. They’ve only chalked up one point from their four matches. While they did have to play all their opening three games away from home due renovations at Ipurua, there were no home comforts to be found last time out. They were beaten 2-1 by fellow early strugglers Espanyol despite taking the lead in that game through Ivan Ramis.

Levante meanwhile almost pulled off one of the great La Liga comebacks at the Bernabeu. Trailing 3-0 at Half-Time, the game looked dead but Paco Lopez’s side pulled a couple of goals back and came very close to a leveller in Stoppage Time with Thibaut Courtois sparing the home team’s blushes in the end. They’ll be hoping to build on home victories over Villarreal and Real Valladolid here.

These sides played out two entertaining contests last term so this could be a decent one for the neutrals. Levante should revert to playing either 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 having utilised five at the back last weekend with limited success. Roger Marti and Borja Mayoral should lead the line but Eibar have a worry over their striker Sergi Enrich which could push José Luis Mendilibar into a change.

Eibar’s new signings have struggled to make a huge impact so far and it’s a bit of a concern. The midfield has been weakened by the departure of Joan Jordan and they could really do with somebody like Edu Exposito to step up. There hasn’t been much sign of that yet though and you sense a more settled Levante outfit that is in good form at home could have the edge here.
