Celta Vigo vs Granada Preview
It’s shaping up to be quite an exciting season for fans of these two teams. There was always going to be a bit of a buzz for Granada on their return to the top flight but their early performances suggest they are more than capable of competing at this level. Celta Vigo meanwhile look like one of the big winners from the summer transfer window with a host of players coming in who not only improve the quality of the side but also give them a real sense of identity with the likes of Denis Suarez, Santi Mina and Rafinha returning to the club.
It may be that only one of those players starts here with Rafinha still out injured while Santi Mina faces a battle with Gabriel Fernandez to be Iago Aspas’ regular strike-partner. Already there are clear signs that suggest Celta will be much stronger this season. They’ve picked up 4 points from their opening 3 games, all of which were against sides that ended last term in the top six. They’ve managed to do that without Iago Aspas scoring which is again a very good sign and it suggests they won’t be quite so reliant on their talisman this term.
As for Granada, they might even have surprised themselves with how they’ve started. They were promoted as a defensive team who didn’t score many but were very adept in the art of keeping Segunda Division clean sheets. The obvious narrative was that they’d struggle to score goals in the top flight yet they head into this game as La Liga’s joint top scorers having scored 7 times in 2 away matches so far.
They were 3-0 winners at Espanyol on matchday 3 but their defence is likely to receive a much sterner test here. If they try and take the game to Celta this could develop into a really open affair and it could be one of the most watchable games this weekend in La Liga.

Celta Vigo vs Granada Predictions
Score Prediction: 3-2 Celta Vigo
This could be a good one. Granada may struggle to keep up their high-scoring start for the duration of the campaign but right now the likes of Antonio Puertas and Darwin Machis are playing with real confidence and they should be able to ask questions of this Celta defence. Even when they were scrapping for their lives last season, Celta didn’t struggle to score at Balaidos though and if Iago Aspas can find his shooting boots again, they may just edge a high-scoring game here.
