Alaves vs Sevilla predictions, H2H and match preview for this Sunday’s game in La Liga. Read on for analysis and predicted line-ups as the visitors look to build on a strong start to the season.
Alaves vs Sevilla Preview
This is one of the hardest games to call in La Liga this weekend. Sevilla have made a really bright start to the new season despite a huge squad overhaul. However they are without a victory on their last 5 visits to Mendizorrotza. Both sides are unbeaten heading into this match with Alaves also making a pretty impressive start to life under new boss Asier Garitano.
The Basque outfit were widely tipped to struggle this season but they did manage to get some smart business done over the summer and that has already started to bear fruits. They’ve been solid defensively, conceding just one goal so far. Meanwhile summer arrival Joselu has made a positive start to his Alaves career with two goals that have helped his team onto 5 points from their opening 3 games.
Sevilla dropped points for the first time this season in their last game with Denis Suarez firing a late leveller for Celta Vigo at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan. Julen Lopetegui has opted for a fair deal of continuity in his eleven which is perhaps a smart move given how much has changed since last season. So far, the signs are promising with Joan Jordan looking good in midfield and the defence looking stronger than last year.
However there may be some concern that they don’t have anyone capable of replacing the sheer volume of goals scored by Wissam Ben Yedder last season. Chicharito will be pushing for a starting role here but Lopetegui may opt to keep faith with Luuk de Jong for now while Munir may start out wide with Lucas Ocampos an injury doubt. Alaves are also likely to stick with the players who have made an unbeaten start to the season.

Alaves vs Sevilla Predictions
Score Prediction: 1-1 Draw
This should be a really close game and a draw looks the most likely outcome. Sevilla clearly have more quality but there will be hiccups along the way as Julen Lopetegui looks to stamp his authority on this team and as new arrivals get used to life in La Liga. Sevilla haven’t won at Alaves in 18 years and they’ll do well to change that here against disciplined opposition that are strong on home soil.
