Leganes vs Villarreal predictions, H2H and match preview for this Saturday’s game in La Liga. Read on for analysis and predicted line-ups as the hosts aim to get off the board in the 2019/20 season.
Leganes vs Villarreal Preview
With only three games gone, only one team is yet to record a point in La Liga and it is Leganes who will be trying to make amends for that here against Villarreal. The Yellow Submarine haven’t been any more convincing in truth although they will perhaps feel as though they should have collected more than 2 points. They can at least take some encouragement from having held Real Madrid last time out.
Both sides will see this as a decent chance to record their first victory of the new season. Leganes were surprisingly one of the biggest net spenders in the summer transfer window in Spain. They made a real clear effort to move away from their previous model of relying on loan players by signing up some of those players who impressed on temporary deals at Butarque last season. However with greater investment comes greater expectations and they could really do with getting a morale boosting victory here.
Villarreal are in a similar boat but what will concern Javi Calleja is that they still look very vulnerable defensively despite a radical overhaul of their back four during the summer. They’ve conceded 8 times so far this season, the joint worst record in La Liga.
Both coaches will have some selection dilemmas heading into this fixture. Leganes may give a start to Kenneth Omeruo who has rejoined the club on a permanent deal. Guido Carrillo is also back after a late deal was agreed with Southampton for him to return to Butarque on loan for another season. He may feature from the bench in this one.
Villarreal meanwhile may consider handing a first start to Javier Ontiveros on the left flank after the highly rated youngster joined from crisis club Malaga.

Leganes vs Villarreal Predictions
Score Prediction: 2-0 Leganes
Leganes are better than their results so far suggest. They are still every bit the solid defensive side that should be tough to beat at Butarque this term and the addition of Roque Mesa gives them a bit more quality in midfield. Their direct approach should cause problems for a Villarreal side that still looks weak at that back and they might just get their first win here.
