Valencia vs Girona predictions, H2H and match preview for this Saturday’s game in Spain’s La Liga. Read on for analysis and predicted line-ups as the hosts search just their second Primera Division win of the season.
DATE/TIME – Saturday 3rd November 2018, 18:30 (Spanish Time)
STADIUM – Mestalla
COMPETITION – La Liga
This Saturday’s game sees Valencia chase what would be just their second league win of the season against a Girona side that have had a mixed time of it so far this term in La Liga. The Catalans are 2 points above their opponents though with Valencia paying the price for far too many draws.
Los Che have drawn a ridiculous 80% of their league games so far. They at least broke a sequence of five straight draws in midweek with a 2-1 win at Ebro in the Copa del Rey. However such a narrow win against Segunda B opponents who were reduced to 10 men inside half an hour, would have done little to boost confidence levels. A brace for Santi Mina in that game puts him in contention for a start here with Valencia’s summer recruits struggling to deliver in the final third.
As for Girona, they’ve been without their talismanic forward Cristhian Stuani in their last two games, although he did come off the bench at Sociedad. Despite his absence, they picked up a 2-1 win against Rayo in their last league outing with Portu bagging a brace. They’d gone 5 without a win prior to that so it was a timely victory for Eusebio’s side.
They head to the Mestalla aiming to add fresh frustration to Marcelino and Valencia, who really have struggled to get going this term. They’ve not been terrible and have only lost 2 of their 14 in all competitions but things just haven’t been clicking in the final third. This time last year, barely a game went by without Simone Zaza and Rodrigo scoring but the Italian has left the club and they haven’t found anywhere near as prolific a strike pairing despite some quality additions.
Valencia vs Girona Predictions
Score Prediction: 1-1 Draw
Valencia have more quality than Girona but the way their season has been going, another draw would be of surprise to nobody here. Los Che are the second lowest scorers in La Liga with only 0.7 goals per game and Girona have enough in their side to nick a goal which could see them leave with a point.
Valencia vs Girona H2H
- Last 2 meetings: 2 Valencia Wins
- The first ever league games between these sides took place last season.
- Valencia won 2-1 at home and 1-0 away.
One to Watch – Portu

With Stuani struggling with an injury and back-up striker Anthony Lozano suspended, Girona’s main goal threat is likely to come from midfield, where they have plenty of players with a goal in them. Portu bagged a brace last weekend and that could spark a decent run of form for the 26 year old who scored 11 times in La Liga last term.
