This is a big day in the context of Huesca’s debut top flight season. They sacked coach Leo Franco following defeat at Valladolid last time out and will be hoping for an immediate response under new management. They won’t find it easy though against an Espanyol side who have made an impressive start to the season.
The new Huesca boss is Francisco, best known for an 18-month spell in charge his hometown club Almeria between 2013 and 2014, when the Andalusians were a top flight club. He has since coached UCAM Murcia and Lugo in the lower leagues, losing more matches than he won in both cases and he has a massive job on his hands as he takes charge of a Huesca side that has taken just 1 point from their last 5 games and sits bottom of the pile.
Espanyol have no such worries with their new boss Rubi inspiring a good start that has seen them take 14 points from their opening 8 games. He was of course the man who guided Huesca to promotion last term so it will be interesting to see what kind of reaction he receives from the home fans.
All but 2 of Espanyol’s points have come at home though and they will need to start picking up a few wins on the road if they are to stand much chance of maintaining a serious top six challenge. This is certainly an away game in which they will be targeting maximum points from.

Score Prediction: 1-1 Draw
Leo Franco can perhaps count himself a little bit unlucky to have lost his job. Some of Huesca’s performances haven’t been that bad with only Barcelona and Atletico Madrid managing to beat them by more than a goal. With a bit of a bounce from having a new man in charge, they should get a result here but Espanyol look a disciplined outfit and ought to leave with a point.
