Celta Vigo vs Granada Preview

Monday night’s game in LaLiga comes from Vigo as two under pressure coaches clash. Celta Vigo eased their woes with a first win of the season last time out but Robert Moreno’s Granada are still to get their first victory and find themselves in the relegation zone heading into this match.
Celta’s win came via a 2-0 margin at Levante although the result perhaps flattered them slightly. They created less xG than their opponents and had only four shots in the match – the lowest number of any team on matchday 6 in LaLiga. Well taken goals from Iago Aspas and Brais Mendez sealed a vital win though and it did significantly ease the pressure that was starting to build under Chacho Coudet.
It would be a shame if he doesn’t get the opportunity to finish what he started so impressively last season in Vigo. He quickly found a winning formula but the early signs suggest Celta may need to find a plan B if they are going to kick on and push for Europe this term. Coudet has so far not really veered from his trusted 4-1-3-2 formation and is unlikely to do so here having finally got that win in Valencia.
Granada’s problems are significant with a 3-2 home defeat against Real Sociedad last week their latest setback. It was another game they took the lead in early on but they are struggling to go the distance in games and there are already signs that the fans are turning against recently appointed coach Robert Moreno.
The former Spain boss has adopted a pugnacious persona on the touchline and in press conferences but he carries a self-confidence that isn’t really backed up by his CV. His only significant managerial experience comes from a brief spell as Spain boss that fell into his hands in tragic circumstances and a poor spell in France with Monaco so there is just little clear evidence to suggest he is in fact a good coach. Overall, you worry for both Moreno and Granada this season with defensive frailties quite obvious for all to see.

Celta Vigo vs Granada Predictions
Score Prediction: Celta Vigo 2-2 Granada
On a more positive note for Granada they do look to carry some form of a goal threat with the likes of Darwin Machis and Luis Suarez capable of causing problems for Celta in this game. The Galicians will be favourites but their poor start on home soil and relatively unconvincing performances, even in victory last week, suggest they may have to settle for a point.
