Sevilla vs Getafe Preview
Sevilla will be looking to pick up their first win at home in LaLiga this season as the Andalusians host Getafe at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan. Both sides were able to avoid defeat in their first match back after the World Cup and would like to pick up further points in this match in order to move higher in the table.
The home side are currently enduring one of their worst seasons in recent memory, finding themselves in the relegation zone after fifteen rounds of the campaign. The club replaced Julen Lopetegui with Jorge Sampaoli in early October but have seen little improvement since, adding only one more league win to their name. As it stands, Sevilla are in for a relegation battle, but with so much quality compared to the teams surrounding them it is assumed that the team can turn things around soon.
Last weekend the club earned a point in Galicia as a header from youngster Kike Salas allowed Sampaoli’s side to draw level after Celta’s first half goal. The second half improvement in this match could show small signs of revival within the squad and that will be tested against a tough Getafe side this weekend.
Getafe are enjoying a reasonably mixed season, as they currently sit in 14th place with 17 points. The Madrileños have only won four games, they have drawn five and lost six. Although it does not look likely, the club still has a chance of finishing the season in a European place, although on the other hand, a poor run of form could find them in a relegation fight. After being knocked out of the Copa del Rey in midweek, LaLiga is the club’s only remaining priority this season.
Quique Sanchez Flores’ side took all three points against Mallorca last time out with two second half goals from Borja Mayoral in a 2-0 win. This came as Getafe’s third clean sheet in five games showing that they offer a strong defensive unit, although only scoring three goals in these games displays the team’s struggles at the other end of the field.

Given the form of both teams as well as Getafe’s style of play, this match may not be easy on the eye. Getafe can be difficult for the bigger names of LaLiga to defeat, and that may be even more the case given Sevilla’s lack of victories at home this season, so a tie here seems plausible.
