Real Valladolid vs Huesca Preview

Two sides who were in the top flight last season, clash on the final weekend of the Segunda Division. Both started the campaign with serious promotion ambitions but only Real Valladolid have managed to really live up to those with Huesca languishing in 11th place going into this game.
Real Valladolid are 3rd, two points behind both Almeria and Eibar. Clearly they are going to need a favour somewhere if they are going to clinch automatic promotion. What happens elsewhere will only be relevant if they win their game though and that will be the only thing on the mind of Pacheta as he prepares to take on the club he left last year.
The Real Valladolid boss won’t be regretting his decision to leave Huesca given how this campaign has played out and his side have done just about everything possible to stay in the hunt for automatic promotion. They’ve lost just 1 of their last 9 games, winning 4 of their last 5. However a shock home defeat against recently relegated Real Sociedad B in the middle of that run will clearly be a game they look back on with regret if they don’t end Sunday in the top two.
Huesca have been something of a yo-yo club in recent years and were hoping to continue that trend this season by bouncing back to the top flight again. It wasn’t quite to be though with summer appointment Ignacio Ambriz struggling to make any impact which resulted in him losing his job in October. Former Watford boss Xisco has come in and improved things to some extent although a 32% win percentage under his guidance, is still some way short of a promotion winning level.
There is nothing at stake for Huesca here and they don’t take great form into this game either with just one win in the last six. That did come in their most recent outing against La Real B, but overall there is the sense now that this team is ready for its summer break and they will hope to push on next term to finish higher up this league.
Real Valladolid vs Huesca Predictions
Score Prediction: Real Valladolid 2-0 Huesca
Real Valladolid’s home form has been a bit patchy of late but they should still take care of their own business here. Whether it’s enough to see them clinch automatic promotion will depend heavily on what happens elsewhere but Pacheta will back his team to see off a side that isn’t really fighting for anything.
