LaLiga matchday 32 preview & predicted lineups

It’s El Clasico this weekend in Spain with Real Madrid and Barcelona meeting at the Santiago Bernabeu. Elsewhere, Girona, Atletico Madrid and Athletic Club are all targeting wins as they target Champions League qualification. Here’s our full 2023/24 LaLiga matchday 32 preview with the latest developments from around the Spanish top flight, predicted lineups and win probabilities.

Friday 19th April 2024

21:00 – Athletic Club vs Granada

Copa del Rey winners Athletic have got ground to make up in the race for fourth place and this is a “must win” game ahead of their crunch showdown with Atletico Madrid next weekend. They should be at full strength with Yeray Alvarez available again and pushing for a start in defence.

Granada claimed just a third win of the season last time out. Jose Ramon Sandoval may well opt to simply keep faith with the eleven that saw off Alaves 2-0 to claim a deserved and overdue three points.

Possible Lineups

Athletic Club: Simon – Yuri, Paredes, Vivian, De Marcos – Prados, Ruiz de Galarreta – Nico Williams, Sancet, Iñaki Williams – Guruzeta (4-2-3-1)

Granada: Batalla – Neva, Miquel, Rubio, Mendez – Jozwiak, Sergio Ruiz, Gumbau, Pellistri – Uzuni, Boye (4-4-2)

Saturday 20th April 2024

14:00 – Celta Vigo vs Las Palmas

Celta Vigo lost for the first time under Claudio Giraldez last time out but they competed pretty well at the Benito Villamarin and we should see them go with a similar team again this weekend with no fresh injuries reported.

Las Palmas have lost their last four with early red cards leaving them up against it in their last two games. They’ll welcome back Alvaro Valles in goal this weekend but will have to cope without the suspended Saul Coco and Marvin Park.

Possible Lineups

Celta Vigo: Guaita – Dominguez, Jailson, Mingueza – Alvarez, Beltran, Sotelo, Manquillo – Bamba, Aspas – Larsen (3-4-2-1)

Las Palmas: Valles – Cardona, Marmol, Curbelo, Alex Suarez – Kirian, Perrone, Muñoz – Moleiro, Sandro, Munir (4-3-3)

16:15 – Rayo Vallecano vs Osasuna

Rayo aren’t scoring many goals but they’re edging towards safety with three straight clean sheets. It’s hard to see this game producing much action either. They’re missing Alvaro Garcia to injury again while Aridane Hernandez is a doubt. Sergio Camello has started the last two games up front and may just edge out Raul De Tomas again here, although neither has covered themselves in glory this season.

Osasuna have been dealt a huge blow with top scorer Ante Budimir, who missed a comically bad penalty late against Valencia last time out, suffering three fractured ribs which look set to rule him out for what may be the rest of the season. Raul Garcia should get an opportunity up front as a result. The visitors also have a doubt over keeper Sergio Herrera this weekend with Aitor Fernandez on standby.

Rayo Vallecano: Dimitrievski – Chavarria, Mumin, Lejeune, Balliu – Unai Lopez, Valentin – De Frutos, Trejo, Isi – Camello (4-2-3-1)

Osasuna: Aitor Fernandez – Mojica, Herrando, David Garcia, Areso – Muñoz, Moncayola – Arnaiz, Moi Gomez, Ruben Garcia – Raul Garcia (4-2-3-1)

18:30 – Valencia vs Real Betis

Valencia are missing skipper Jose Luis Gaya to injury again. They were a bit fortunate to win at Osasuna last time out but Ruben Baraja could stick with the same players. The fit again Andre Almeida has been their match winner in their last two games, both of which ended 1-0 in favour of Los Che.

Betis ended a four game losing streak with a 2-1 win over Celta Vigo last weekend. Nabil Fekir was dropped for the game, but came off the bench to score, leaving Manuel Pellegrini with a decision to make here on his involvement. Cedric Bakambu is also pushing for a start but Willian Jose may keep his place up front after his recent brace at Girona.

Valencia: Mamardashvili – Vazquez, Ozkacar, Mosquera, Foulquier – Almeida, Guerra, Pepelu – Fran Perez, Duro, Diego Lopez (4-3-3)

Real Betis: Rui Silva – Miranda, Riad, Pezzella, Sabaly – Guido Rodriguez, Cardoso – Ayoze, Isco, Fornals – Willian Jose (4-2-3-1)

21:00 – Girona vs Cadiz

Girona suffered a fifth straight away defeat in Madrid last weekend, but they are still going well at home and are strong favourites on Saturday night against Cadiz. They are expecting to have Viktor Tysgankov fit with Ivan Martin also likely to return to the starting eleven. Jhon Solis and Yan Couto are the two most likely to drop out.

Cadiz have a number of absentees with Javi Hernandez suspended while Luis Hernandez, Jose Mari, Fede San Emeterio and Rominigue Kouame are all currently injured. The big selection question for Mauricio Pellegrino may be whether to stick with Chris Ramos up top or recall Maxi Gomez, with the fit again Roger Marti an alternative option.

14:00 – Getafe vs Real Sociedad

Getafe played out a 0-0 draw last time out in Vallecas, further evidence that they’ve settled deeper into a negative approach with top scorer Borja Mayoral injured. The big question for Pepe Bordalas is who to name up front right now with Jaime Mata and Juanmi Latasa the main options.

Real Sociedad have two significant suspensions on Sunday with first team regulars Igor Zubeldia and Martin Zubimendi out. That’s most likely to mean starts for Jon Pacheco and Beñat Turrientes.

Getafe: Soria – Gaston, Alderete, Djene, Iglesias – Moriba, Milla, Yellu, Maksimovic, Greenwood – Latasa (4-5-1)

Real Sociedad: Remiro – Galan, Pacheco, Le Normand, Traore – Turrientes, Merino, Zakharyan – Barrenetxea, Oyarzabal, Kubo (4-3-3)

16:15 – Almeria vs Villarreal

Almeria picked up a decent 2-2 draw at the Reale Arena last Sunday with Adri Embarba scoring both goals for the relegation-bound visitors. We may not see many changes from that eleven, although Largie Ramazani stands a decent chance of starting on the right flank.

Villarreal are missing both Santi Comesaña and Raul Albiol to bans which will force Marcelino into a reshuffle with Etienne Capoue likely to come into the midfield. There are different ways that the Villarreal boss could go in defence with Jorge Cuenca and Aissa Mandi options to partner Yerson Mosquera.

Almeria: Maximiano – Langa, Edgar, Chumi, Pubill – Lopy, Robertone – Embarba, Viera, Ramazani – Baptistao (4-2-3-1)

Villarreal: Jorgensen – Moreno, Cuenca, Mosquera, Femenia – Baena, Capoue, Parejo, Traore – Sorloth, Gerard Moreno (4-4-2)

18:30 – Alaves vs Atletico Madrid

Alaves made a few changes for their last game at Granada which hasn’t really been Luis Garcia’s way this term, but his plan didn’t work with a really poor showing in a 2-0 defeat. The likes of Jon Guridi and Abdel Abqar will be hopeful of regaining their places on Sunday.

Atleti crashed out of the Champions League in midweek but they have work to do in order to ensure they are playing in the competition again next term. Marcos Llorente is suspended this week while another poor showing from Alvaro Morata in Germany leaves his place in the starting eleven in doubt with Angel Correa in with a good chance of getting the nod this weekend.

Alaves: Sivera – Duarte, Abqar, Marin, Gorosabel – Blanco, Guevara, Guridi – Rioja, Omorodion, Vicente (4-3-3)

Atletico Madrid: Oblak – Hermoso, Gimenez, Witsel – Lino, De Paul, Koke, Barrios, Molina – Correa, Griezmann (3-5-2)

21:00 – Real Madrid vs Barcelona

Real Madrid have no fresh injury concerns ahead of El Clasico despite putting in a huge shift in Manchester on Wednesday night. Aurelien Tchouameni is available again after his European suspension and should start in defence alongside Antonio Rudiger.

Contrasting emotions for Barcelona who crashed out of Europe after Ronald Araujo’s red card turned the tide of their Champions League quarter final against PSG. The big call for Xavi will be whether to go with a holding midfielder, most likely Andreas Christensen, and if so, who to leave out as a result. Pedri could potentially drop to the bench, unless Xavi opts to use him in a more advanced role instead of either Lamine Yamal or Raphinha.

21:00 – Sevilla vs Mallorca

Kike Salas is suspended for Sevilla so Nemanja Gudelj may drop back into defence for this one. That should offer an opportunity for Lucien Agoume to play in midfield in Quique Sanchez Flores’ usual 3-5-2 system.

Mallorca are expected to have a fully fit squad available as they return to Seville, two weeks on from their Copa del Rey Final defeat. They’re likely to broadly match Sevilla’s system with Cyle Larin expected to partner Vedat Muriqi up top once more.
