Getafe and Rayo Vallecano meet in a derby clash in the Madrid Community on Sunday. This isn’t quite as big a game as it might have been with both sides having taken big strides towards sealing safety in recent weeks, although the hosts still have a bit of work to do still.

Getafe are 5 points above the drop-zone heading into the weekend. The victory at Camp Nou was particularly sweet and they’ve added to their points tally since then with a 1-1 draw against Real Sociedad.

As a result, they are sitting comfortably in 11th place once more and there is no danger of Rayo going down which should allow everyone connected with the club the chance to reflect on an excellent campaign. If they are looking for extra motivation, a top half finish may be the aim now, something that the Madrid club have only managed twice previously in the top flight in their long history.
