Celta Vigo and Real Sociedad face off in what could be one of the most watchable games this week in LaLiga. Both teams like to play positive football and have players capable of producing moments of real quality in the final third and both sides put in strong showings in their most recent matches.

Celta cruised to a 3-0 victory at Getafe on Monday with a dominant Second Half display as the wheels fell off for their hosts. Santi Mina’s brace, either side of an Iago Aspas goal, piled on the misery for bottom club Getafe who ended the game with nine men. It was also a much needed win for Celta who move up to 14th but they’ll still be disappointed with an overall return of 10 points from 10 games so far this term.

Chacho Coudet will be hoping that result can prove something of a building block. They’d only managed to score 7 times in 9 matches prior to the trip to the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez having lost each of their previous two fixtures 1-0. They have enough quality to be doing better and victory here over table topping La Real would provide firmer indication that Celta are getting back to their best.

Real Sociedad will make the long trip across Northern Spain with three points on their mind though. They are having a terrific season so far and underlined just how serious they are by going to the home of the champions and racing into a 2-0 lead at the weekend with Alexander Sorloth and Alexander Isak scoring at the Wanda Metropolitano. We perhaps also saw glimpses of why La Real aren’t quite ready to challenge for the title as they let Atleti back into the game in the Second Half with Luis Suarez’s brace ensuring the game ended 2-2, but the result ensured Imanol’s stayed top of the table.

They will most likely need to win here to regain top spot and are expected to revert back to their usual 4-3-3 formation having utilised a back three in Madrid. That’s a nice extra option for Imanol to have but right now his approach is still largely dictated by the players he has available and who most needs a rest. They also have the Basque derby against Athletic to come at the weekend and he may rotate where possible here as a result.

Celta Vigo vs Real Sociedad Predictions

Score Prediction: Celta Vigo 2-2 Real Sociedad

This should be a good game with two positive teams. Real Sociedad have been terrific in tough circumstances this season but Celta will come into the game with a lot of confidence after such a strong Second Half display on Monday night. A score draw looks a likely outcome here.
