Valencia vs Cadiz Preview
All sides in LaLiga will have played their first games of 2021 by the end of Monday night which sees Valencia and Cadiz meet at Mestalla. Both sides made bright starts to the season with Los Che briefly topping the table but neither team takes much form into this game with the hosts now languishing in the relegation zone.
It’s 7 games without a win for Valencia in LaLiga since that shock 4-1 win over Real Madrid. They drew 4 of their subsequent 5 games but defeats to Sevilla and Granada have really raised fears that this campaign could yet turn into a serious relegation battle. They’ll be desperate to avoid a hat-trick of defeats against Andalusian opponents here.
Carlos Soler, who scored a hat-trick of penalties in that win over Madrid, tops Valencia’s charts for both goals and assists this season and he has been one beneficiary of the mass summer exodus. The likes of Lee Kang-In and Denis Cheryshev have also offered some creative spark at times but they may need to be patient here to break down this Cadiz defence.
The visitors will sit deep and try to make use of the counter-attack as usual but a bit like their opponents, they have struggled since a home victory against one of LaLiga’s ‘big two’. Since getting the better of Barcelona at the Ramon de Carranza, Cadiz have only taken one point from four games, failing to score a single goal during that period.
That solitary point did come last time out as they drew 0-0 at home to Real Valladolid. Slightly worryingly for Alvaro Cervera, their away form has also declined after a brilliant start on the road. They’ve taken just 1 point from their last 4 road games and that was against fellow new boys Elche.

Valencia vs Cadiz Predictions
Score Prediction: Valencia 1-0 Cadiz
This could be something of a chess match, at least initially as both sides will fear the threat the other can pose on the break. The onus will be on Valencia to try and dictate the pace of the game and over the course of 90 minutes, they may just have enough to edge it against a Cadiz side that is offering precious little goal threat right now.
