Barcelona vs Real Valladolid predictions, H2H and match preview for this Tuesday’s game in La Liga. Read on for analysis and predicted line-ups as the Catalans aim to return to the top.
Barcelona vs Real Valladolid Preview
The second game on Tuesday night comes from Camp Nou, just three days after Barcelona were due to host Real Madrid in the Clasico. This clearly isn’t such a politically charged fixture but there will still be plenty of focus on events off the pitch with demonstrations still ongoing on the streets of Barcelona.
On the pitch, Barça should be fresh and ready to go here having not played since their unconvincing Champions League win in Prague last week. They were much more impressive in their last league match when Antoine Griezmann, Leo Messi and Luis Suarez all started and all scored against Eibar. However this will be a very different kind of game with the Basque minnows allowing the Catalans plenty of space to play in due to their high pressing tactics.
Valladolid will be content to sit much deeper and they can take confidence from having avoided defeat against both of the Madrid giants already this term. This will certainly be their toughest test yet but there is no real pressure on them after their weekend victory pushed them into the lofty heights of 8th place. Right now, Sergio’s men look well capable of emulating their achievements last season when they beat the drop with a bit of breathing space in the end.
Barcelona were knocked off the top of the table by Granada on Sunday but they will be determined to ensure normal service is resumed here. Barça have been dominant at home so far this term, winning all 4 league games at Camp Nou and scoring 4 goals per game on average. Valladolid do boast one of La Liga’s four tightest defences right now though, so the Catalans may have to work a bit harder to forge their openings here than in recent games.
Barcelona vs Real Valladolid Predictions
Score Prediction: 2-0 Barcelona
Real Valladolid may not be one of the most fashionable clubs or attractive teams to watch but they’ve gradually developed into an very effective side that is capable of at least frustrating Barca here, as they managed to do in both meetings last season. However with the kind of quality the hosts have, Messi and co should be able to find the breakthrough and one goal might just bring another late on if Valladolid find themselves in a position where they need to start committing a few bodies forward.
