Osasuna vs Valencia Match Preview & Prediction

Osasuna vs Valencia Preview

This game concludes the weekend action in La Liga and it promises to be a good contest. Osasuna have been very tough to beat so far on their return to La Liga. They should prove a real test for a Valencia side that is still finding its feet following the turmoil of Marcelino’s departure and the appointment of Albert Celades.

Osasuna are unbeaten at home in the league in over eighteen months. The last team to defeat them in a league game at El Sadar was Tenerife in the Segunda Division in April of last year. They’ve not been reeling off the wins quite as frequently since their return to the top flight but Osasuna did see off Villarreal 2-1 in their most recent home game and with the kind of record they have on this ground, they’ve no reason to fear Valencia.

This is the third tough away game in the space of eight days for Los Che. They grabbed a good point at the Wanda Metropolitano last weekend with Dani Parejo firing home a late free-kick. It was 1-1 again in midweek as they drew in France against Lille in the Champions League. A 95th minute goal denied them all three points but they probably didn’t do enough to win the match in truth with Lille having 27 shots to Valencia’s 6.

Fatigue could be a bit of a factor for them here as they face another road game and Osasuna will be hoping to take full advantage of that having had much longer to prepare for this one.

Osasuna vs Valencia Predictions

Score Prediction: 2-1 Osasuna

Valencia have a great recent record against Osasuna but the Pamplona side are a revitalised force these days and El Sadar is offering them such a significant home advantage, they might just turn over Los Che here. Valencia are still in the process of adapting to a new style of play and at the end of a tiring week, they may struggle to match the home team’s intensity.
