Mallorca vs Real Madrid Preview

Real Madrid head to Mallorca for the first time in seven years this Saturday and their visit should draw the biggest crowd of the season so far at Son Moix. The home fans would love a victory in a game like this to truly announce their arrival back in the big time but it has been a difficult adjustment to life back in the top flight for the Balearic islanders.

That was always likely to be the case following back to back promotions. They are in the relegation zone heading into this match but all 7 of their points so far have come at home which should give them an element of belief before the visit of Los Blancos. They went into the international break on a positive note, seeing off Espanyol 2-0 at Son Moix but this clearly will be much tougher.

Real Madrid are sitting pretty at the top of La Liga and talk of crisis following the heavy defeat to PSG has eased slightly by a decent run of results. Zinedine Zidane will have one eye on a crucial Champions League game in Turkey against Galatasaray on Tuesday night but is less likely to rotate here now that next weekend’s Clasico has been postponed.

In any case, Real’s options for rotation are somewhat limited. They will be without Gareth Bale, Toni Kroos, Luka Modric and Lucas Vazquez here due to injury. That should give the likes of Isco, Fede Valverde and James Rodriguez another chance to stake their claim for a regular starting berth.

Mallorca meanwhile must decide whether or not to start Takefusa Kubo against his former club but they may decide to go with Aleix Febas who joined the club on a permanent deal from Real Madrid this summer.

Mallorca vs Real Madrid Predictions

Score Prediction: 2-0 Real Madrid

Mallorca have been wasteful in front of goal this season and they may struggle to create a huge amount here. Despite their injury problems, Real should have their first choice goalkeeper and back four in action again while the presence of both Casemiro and Fede Valverde gives their midfield a solid feel. They ought to have enough individual quality at the other end to seal all three points.
