The late game on Saturday in La Liga is a Madrid derby. It’s certainly not the fiercest of rivalries with Leganes and Getafe more traditional rivals while it doesn’t match the glamour of a Real-Atleti clash. However there is plenty riding on it with both sides in the bottom three heading into this match-day and the losers here face the prospect of propping up the division heading into the international break.
Leganes are currently in that position. They’ve only picked up 4 points all season and remarkably 3 of them came against FC Barcelona. The 2-1 victory over the Catalan giants came in their last home game and they nearly built on that at Betis but conceded very late to lose 1-0. They had less than 20% of the ball in that game but this will be a very different kind of contest you’d imagine.
It has the potential to get quite heated with the need for the points very real even at this stage in the season. Rayo have had their discipline problems already this term but they have been more impressive in their last two matches, 2-2 draws against Real Sociedad and Espanyol. A repeat wouldn’t be a disaster here but they could do with doubling their win tally, having only beaten fellow new boys Huesca so far this term.

Score Prediction: 2-2 Draw
This is quite a tough game to predict the outcome of. Rayo have been hammered twice at home already this season but their away record isn’t bad at all with 4 points from 3 games on the road and their only defeat coming in slightly unfortunate circumstances against Atleti. Leganes were inspired against Barcelona but that may prove to be little more than a freak result and the visitors look capable of coming away with something here.

Already it looks as though Raul de Tomas is going to be key to Rayo’s survival chances. Prolific on loan at the club last term with 24 goals in the Segunda, he has impressed in the top flight too with 2 goals in 4 games and another chalked off by VAR.
