Girona vs Almeria Preview
On Sunday night in Catalonia, Girona will be hosting Almería in the Estadi Montilivi. Both teams are fighting for promotion and we are approaching the point where there is no room for slip ups. We could be in for a great game.
Girona are sitting ninth in the table. They are not far off from the play offs and with the quality they possess it’s likely that they should make the top six but nothing is a given. The one big thing that could cost them this is goals. They have only managed to score twenty three goals this season and that is a worrying sign for Head Coach Francisco.
Their star striker Cristhian Stuani has had his injury problems but is back fit now and it was his early penalty that had Les Blanquivermells ahead in their last outing but they couldn’t hold on to the lead as they drew with Fuenlabrada 1-1. Going into this game Girona will need to defend better than what they have been doing if they are to stop this high scoring Almería side from getting on the scoresheet.
Almería looked to have hit a bit of bad form but bounced back with a fantastic display in their last outing hammering Lugo 4-1. The Andalusian side have the most goals in the league. That only brings more and more confidence as La Unión will believe wherever they go they have goals in them.
The only slight concern Head Coach José Gomes will have is that they are without a win away from home this year. They will need to change that soon if they want to be promoted this season. A win here will be a massive step towards that goal and to send a message out to the other teams that they are to be feared, even on the road.
