The Friday night game in LaLiga comes from the Benito Villamarin and it serves up a really good chance for Real Betis to steal a march on their competitors in the race for the final European places. They’d move level on points with Villarreal in 6th were they to see off struggling Getafe.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side will certainly fancy their chances. With the exception of narrowly missing out on a place in the Copa del Rey Semi-Finals, it has been an excellent 2021 so far for Betis who have been performing on a much more consistent level and winning games they might have lost earlier in the campaign.

Their only defeat inside 90 minutes this calendar year was against a Messi-inspired Barcelona side and they picked up one of their best results of the season last time out, winning 2-1 away to Villarreal. While they certainly are not a flawless team, when everyone is fit they do have a first XI which should be competitive with just about anyone in this league and with matches against struggling Cadiz and Alaves following this match, they have a real chance to move into the top six.

Getafe were hoping they’d be in and around the European battle again this season but things are starting to unravel quite spectacularly for Jose Bordalas and his team. They’ve taken just one point from their last five league games to sink towards the relegation scrap again. Bordalas’ bizarre sending off for tackling a Real Sociedad player last weekend summed up just how the wheels really do seem to be coming off at the Coliseum.

With Getafe’s critics now with fresh ammunition, Bordalas may try to re-instill that siege mentality that had previously helped fire Getafe onto one of the most successful periods in their history. However this is not an easy game to have right now and all of a sudden Geta look like they may end up fighting for survival having pushed for Europe in recent years.

Team News

Marc Bartra is missing again for Betis while Victor Ruiz is a doubt.

Getafe have no major selection issues but Pepe Bordalas must decide whether to stick with the 4-4-2 or try to accommodate some of his January additions in once more with a 4-2-3-1.

Predicted Getafe Starting Lineup:

Real Betis vs Getafe Predictions

Score Prediction: Real Betis 2-0 Getafe

All is clearly not well with Getafe. They reverted back to their typical 4-4-2 with loan signings Carles Alena and Take Kubo the casualties last week. However the reason they switched from it in the first place, was that results weren’t coming as easily as in previous seasons and you have to fancy an in-form Betis side to emerge victorious here.
