Osasuna vs Real Valladolid Preview

Osasuna and Real Valladolid were two of the pre-season favourites for relegation so both teams will be content with how things have panned out so far this term. They both have work to do and points to accumulate though before they can start safely planning for another season at this level.

Fans of Osasuna would have breathed a huge sigh of relief this week when Sevilla opted to sign Leganes forward Youssef En-Nesyri rather than Chimy Avila. Both men had release clauses that were not out of the budget of the Andalusian club who have been desperate for a solution to their goal scoring problems. Tying Avila down to a new deal may already be a priority for Osasuna given the Argentine has fired in 9 goals in La Liga this term.

Real Valladolid’s problems in front of goal put those of Sevilla into some perspective though. Sergio’s side have failed to score in 5 of their last 7 matches in La Liga and no side outside of the bottom three has scored fewer than them this season. It’s also 7 without a win for Real Valladolid although they have continued to accumulate points with 4 of their last 5 ending in draws.

Osasuna are hampered here by the suspension of Pervis Estupiñán who has been a huge threat from full-back this term and one of their most important players along with Avila. Facundo Roncaglia is also banned so Jagoba Arrasate will have to shuffle his pack a bit. Real Valladolid have a couple of doubts but should be able to name something closer to their regular starting XI.

Osasuna vs Real Valladolid Predictions

Score Prediction: 1-1 Draw

Osasuna are the favourites but there’s a strong case to be made for this one ending up level. No side has drawn more games in La Liga this term than Osasuna (9) and they are in the midst of a slight dip in form with just 1 win in 7. The absence of Estupiñán is also significant and suggests Real Valladolid may be able to come away from here having made it 5 draws in 6 league games.
