This game may sound a bit like a relegation six-pointer but after the starts they’ve made, both Real Valladolid and Osasuna will fancy they can do a little bit more than spend all season scrapping for survival. This will actually be Valladolid’s first home game so they’ll be more than content with a return of 4 points from their opening 3 games. Osasuna meanwhile have gone one better by taking 5 points so far during an unbeaten start to their return to the top tier.

They held Barcelona to a 2-2 draw last time out and it’s pretty widely accepted that they will be at least difficult to beat on their own ground. How they go on the road is more up in the air but they did manage to grind out a 1-0 victory at Leganes on the opening weekend and they’ll see this as the kind of match where they at least have the chance to secure some more early points on the road.

Valladolid though will have other ideas. Their only defeat so far came in what was on paper their easiest match against Levante. Having spent relatively in the summer, another season near the bottom end of La Liga looks likely for Sergio’s side but they do still look like a well-organised team and Osasuna will have to work hard to create many chances in this one.

The hosts could make a few changes from their last game. Sandro Ramirez is fit again and may line up in attack alongside Sergi Guardiola who has made a bright start to the new season. Meanwhile Osasuna may need to find a replacement for midfielder Darko Brasanac who is struggling with a knee injury.

There’s not much to choose between these sides in truth. Osasuna have made a strong start to life in La Liga but they did ride their luck a touch in their opening away game at Leganes. Chimy Avila produced a fine strike, as he sometimes does, to seal the points but it’s unrealistic to expect him to do that every week. Valladolid are an organised unit but they do have a bit more quality than they sometimes get credit for and with Guardiola in good form, they might just nick this 1-0.
