Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan
Sevilla have a new coach ahead of their game against Real Madrid.

Friday 20th October 2023

21:00 – Osasuna vs Granada

OsasunaGranada
Win Probability53%22%

Osasuna have picked up just 1 point at home so far while Granada have only managed 1 away so something has to give here. Jagaoba Arrasate’s team were hammered at Real Madrid last time out but they’re usually a solid side that should start picking up results at home before too long. They’ll need to be wary of Granada’s Bryan Zaragoza who has exploded in recent weeks with a brace against Barcelona a fortnight ago helping him make his Spain debut over the international break.

Predicted Home Lineup: Herrera – Cruz, David Garcia, Catena, Pena – Torro, Moncayola – Kike Barja, Aimar Oroz, Avila – Budimir (4-2-3-1)

Predicted Away Lineup: Ferreira – Neva, Miquel, Rubio, Ricard – Puertas, Gumbau, Villar, Bryan Zaragoza – Callejon, Boye (4-4-2)

14:00 – Real Sociedad vs Mallorca

Real SociedadMallorca
Win Probability63%12%

Real Sociedad had an excellent run of results leading into the international break and they’ll be favourites to win here. They could be slightly hampered by playing early on Saturday with Take Kubo returning from Japan while a number of their players are now heavily involved for Spain. The visitors are missing midfielder Sergi Darder to an injury but have improved of late with just 1 defeat in their last 6.

Predicted Home Lineup: Remiro – Aihen, Le Normand, Zubeldia, Traore – Merino, Zubimendi, Brais Mendez – Barrenetxea, Oyarzabal, Kubo (4-3-3)

Predicted Away Lineup: Rajkovic – Lato, Valjent, Nastacic, Giovanni – Samu, Morlanes, Antonio Sanchez – Dani Rodriguez – Prats, Muriqi (4-3-1-2)

16:15 – Getafe vs Real Betis

GetafeBetis
Win Probability38%31%

Real Betis have some big selection issues heading into this game with regulars Guido Rodriguez and Willian Jose suspended while Marc Bartra has been ruled out until December which leaves them with just two central defenders for this next run of matches. That’s not ideal for a European team by any means and Getafe will be hoping to take advantage, although the hosts are also missing two players to suspension with Djene and Domingos Duarte unavailable.

Predicted Home Lineup: Soria – Rico, Gaston, Mitrovic, Damian Suarez – Arambarri, Maksimovic, Alena – Mata, Mayoral, Greenwood (4-3-3)

Predicted Away Lineup: Bravo – Abner, Riad, Pezzella, Bellerin – Guido Rodriguez, Roca – Rodri, Isco, Assane – Ayoze Perez (4-2-3-1)

18:30 – Sevilla vs Real Madrid

SevillaReal Madrid
Win Probability22%53%

This is perhaps the weekend’s standout fixture with Sergio Ramos coming up against Real Madrid while Sevilla are also playing their first match under new management. Former Uruguay boss Diego Alonso takes his first job in LaLiga after replacing Jose Luis Mendilibar who was sacked with the Andalusians down in 14th. Real Madrid head south with Jude Bellingham still very much the main man. The Englishman is top scorer in LaLiga with 8 goals.

Predicted Home Lineup: Nyland – Pedrosa, Ramos, Bade, Navas – Rakitic, Sow, Fernando – Lukebakio, En Nesyri, Ocampos (4-3-3)

Predicted Away Lineup: Kepa – Mendy, Alaba, Rudiger, Carvajal – Kroos, Tchouameni, Valverde – Bellingham – Vini Junior, Joselu (4-3-1-2)

21:00 – Celta Vigo vs Atletico Madrid

Celta VigoAtletico Madrid
Win Probability27%46%

Atletico Madrid head to Balaidos hoping to pile the pressure on Rafa Benitez whose Celta team sit in the drop zone with only 6 points from 9 games. They’ve suffered a fresh blow with Joseph Aidoo suffering a serious injury which may rule him out for the remainder of the season while star forward Iago Aspas is yet to end his lengthy goal drought. Atleti’s injury problems are easing but it has been a busy international break for many of their players which could have an impact on Diego Simeone’s team selection.

Predicted Home Lineup: Villar – Starfelt, Dominguez, Nuñez – Manu Sanchez, De La Torre, Beltran, Mingueza – Bamba, Aspas – Larsen (3-4-2-1)

Predicted Away Lineup: Oblak – Hermoso, Witsel, Savic – Lino, Saul, Koke, Llorente, Azpilicueta – Griezmann, Morata (3-5-2)

14:00 – Las Palmas vs Rayo Vallecano

Las PalmasRayo Vallecano
Win Probability36%34%

Las Palmas failed to win any of their opening 5 matches back in the top flight, but they’ve won 3 of the last 4 to climb into mid-table. That period has coincided with a big fall-out involving star player and captain Jonathan Viera though with major doubts over the 33 year old’s future. He’s unlikely to start here against a Rayo side that have drawn their last 4 in LaLiga. They were a matter of minutes away from an excellent win at Sevilla last time out.

Predicted Home Lineup: Valles – Cardona, Marmol, Alex Suarez, Araujo – Kirian Rodriguez, Loiodice, Munoz – Pejino, Cardona, Munir (4-3-3)

Predicted Away Lineup: Dimitrievski – Espino, Aridane, Lejeune, Balliu – Valentin, Unai Lopez – Alvaro Garcia, Kike Perez, Isi Palazon – De Tomas (4-2-3-1)

16:15 – Girona vs Almeria

GironaAlmeria
Win Probability67%15%

Girona bounced back from their first defeat of the season by beating Cadiz away last time out to remain 2nd heading into this matchday. They’ll strongly fancy they can put another win on the board against rock bottom Almeria. The visitors have a new boss in the shape of former Eibar and Athletic coach Gaizka Garitano and are expected to adopt a more defensive approach under his guidance.

Predicted Home Lineup: Gazzaniga – Gutierrez, Blind, Eric Garcia, Arnau Martinez – David Lopez, Ivan Martin, Aleix Garcia – Savio, Dovbyk, Portu (4-3-3)

Predicted Away Lineup: Maximiano – Centelles, Montes, Chumi, Pozo – Baba, Lopy – Embarba, Arribas, Lazaro – Baptistao (4-2-3-1)

18:30 – Villarreal vs Alaves

VillarrealAlaves
Win Probability56%19%

Villarreal lost at home to newly promoted opposition last time out and they are up against another team that has just come up at the Ceramica this weekend. It’s a pressure game for Pacheta who has struggled to make much impact since replacing Quique Setien. Alaves would certainly be happy to leave with a draw but they may still sense weakness in the home defence. The hosts need their key players like Dani Parejo and Gerard Moreno to step up with a big performance to help settle the growing tension in the Yellow Submarine camp.

Predicted Home Lineup: Jorgensen – Pedraza, Mandi, Albiol, Foyth – Capoue, Parejo – Ilias, Gerard Moreno, Morales – Sorloth (4-2-3-1)

Predicted Away Lineup: Sivera – Duarte, Abqar, Sedlar, Gorosabel – Guridi, Guevara – Rioja, Hagi, Sola – Kike Garcia (4-2-3-1)

21:00 – Barcelona vs Athletic Club

BarcelonaAthletic Club
Win Probability60%17%

Barcelona are dealing with a mounting injury crisis and it’s an untimely one with Real Madrid visiting the Catalan capital next weekend. This won’t be easy either with Athletic in decent form and looking more threatening in the final third than was the case last season. With the likes of Robert Lewandowski, Jules Kounde, Pedri and Frenkie de Jong missing, it’ll be a test of Barca’s squad depth which has frequently been found lacking in 2023. The visitors have some selection worries too with Yeray, Nico Williams and Mikel Vesga all out or doubtful.

Predicted Home Lineup: Ter Stegen – Alonso, Christensen, Kounde, Cancelo – Gundogan, Romeu, Gavi – Felix, Ferran, Lamine Yamal (4-3-3)

Predicted Away Lineup: Simon – Yuri, Paredes, Vivian, De Marcos – Dani Garcia, Ruiz de Galaretta – Berenguer, Sancet, Iñaki Williams – Guruzeta (4-2-3-1)

Monday 23rd October 2023

21:00 – Valencia vs Cadiz

ValenciaCadiz
Win Probability56%18%

The Monday night game comes from Mestalla. Valencia have fallen a bit flat since walloping Atletico Madrid 3-0 and they could do with a big performance here to get things moving in the right direction again. They have Jose Gaya back and are clear favourites against a Cadiz side that is missing Ruben Alcaraz and Darwin Machis to suspension.

Predicted Home Lineup: Mamardashvili – Gaya, Gabriel, Mosquera, Correia – Pepelu, Guerra, Amallah – Diego Lopez, Duro, Fran Perez (4-2-3-1)

Predicted Away Lineup: Ledesma – Javi Hernandez, Luis Hernandez, Mere, Iza Carcelen – Sobrino, Kouame, Escalante, Alejo – Ramos, Roger Marti (4-4-2)

EXTRAEric Garcia37GIRONA vs Almeria

Our five picks this week all have low L15 scores for different reasons. Eric Garcia stands out as perhaps the best choice of the five with the former Barcelona fringe player already a clear starter in high flying Girona’s best eleven and with a matrix-friendly game, he’s a great pick with an L15 of 37 at home to rock bottom Almeria.

Mauro Arambarri also looks good on his return from injury with an L15 of 30 while Mikel Oyarzabal is starting to hit form at last and will fancy his chances of a decisive against Mallorca. Gabriel Paulista and Stole Dimitrievski complete the five with decent shots at clean sheets in their respective matches.

Full Team Stack: Ter Stegen (54) – Cancelo (65) – Gundogan (58) – Felix (57) – Ferran (50)

Barcelona and Girona are both good options for full team stacks this weekend in LaLiga and may be better choices than the two Madrid clubs who have potentially tricky away fixtures.

Barca have lots of injuries which at least makes things easier in terms of picking starters with Ferran Torres expected to continue in place of the injured Robert Lewandowski while summer signings Ilkay Gundogan, Joao Felix and Joao Cancelo should all start.
