Defending champions they may be, but the Barcelona squad still frequently displayed cracks last term which has resulted in a bit more depth added for the 2023/24 season. Xavi is hoping he now has not only a strong first eleven, but a number of strong squad players who can rotate in and shine when needed.
Barcelona added Oriol Romeu and Ilkay Gundogan on permanent deals this summer, while Joao Cancelo and Joao Felix arrived on deadline day loan moves. The emergence of talented teenager Lamine Yamal has been another huge boost which should help the Catalans get by despite needing to operate on a much reduced budget this summer due to LaLiga’s salary limits.

What is Barcelona’s best lineup?

If and when he gets everyone fit, Xavi will have some serious decisions to make this term when it comes to an eleven that largely picked itself last year. The addition of Joao Cancelo gives Barcelona the attacking right back they’ve been crying out for since Dani Alves left the club the first time.
However that does mean that if Cancelo plays, Xavi will need to pick two from Jules Kounde, Ronald Araujo and Andreas Christensen in central defence. Whoever misses out would have reason to feel aggrieved but assuming Barcelona go deep in Europe, there should be enough games to keep everyone happy.
Things are also much more complicated in midfield this term. Oriol Romeu has arrived to take Sergio Busquets’ place as the holding midfielder. He may lack the natural talent of some of his midfield rivals but Romeu’s different skillset could make him an unflashy but essential part of the team in tougher matches.
That would leave the likes of Frenkie de Jong, Pedri, Gavi and Ilkay Gundogan competing for two midfield roles in a 4-3-3 system, although it’s possible that either Gavi or Gundogan could also be shoehorned into the side on the left of the front three as was frequently the case with Gavi last term.
Robert Lewandowski is a certainty up front in Barcelona’s best starting XI with Joao Felix, Raphinha and Lamine Yamal likely to rotate amongst themselves in the wide positions.
Barcelona fantasy football players – Who are the best scorers?
The addition of the likes of Joao Felix and Joao Cancelo into the side this term should increase Barcelona’s overall attacking output. It should also lead to increased supply for Robert Lewandowski who will be confident of bettering his 23 goal tally from LaLiga 2022/23.
Lewandowski’s status as one of the few Barcelona players who feels almost undroppable also makes him an essential Barca fantasy football pick.
In terms of midfielders, both Pedri and Frenkie de Jong have had their starts to the season unsettled by injuries, but both should have major roles to play when fit, although rotation is certainly something to look out for.
At the other end, Barcelona look set to concede more goals this season with a slightly more attacking approach. Marc-André ter Stegen is unlikely to get quite as many clean sheets as a result but remains one of the standout goalkeepers in the league.
Best Barcelona Sorare stack – Ter Stegen | Araujo | De Jong | Pedri | Lewandowski
While more rotation could make life trickier for Sorare managers with Barcelona players this season, they still stand out as the best option for a full team stack in La Liga on the fantasy football game.
Ter Stegen and Lewandowski are nailed on picks in the Barcelona lineup. You’ll need to research the predicted lineups carefully each week when it comes to defenders and midfielders but in any big game, it’s hard to see Xavi lining up without Araujo, De Jong and Pedri assuming all three are fit and available.
