Cadiz vs Valencia Preview

Cadiz stadium

The Nuevo Mirandilla hosts a huge game down at the bottom this weekend as Cadiz host Valencia. The home side comes off a loss in midweek whilst Los Che are coming off of a victory, however both sides remain in desperate need of points given that they are in the lower end of the table with only half a dozen matches remaining after this.

Cadiz come into this match after losing to Osasuna on Tuesday evening. Both sides had many big chances throughout the game, however it was an excellent long-range strike from Ruben Garcia in the 62nd minute which sealed all three points for Osasuna. This loss extended Cadiz’s poor run of form, with the southern side only picking up victory in one of their last eight matches.

Cadiz’s issues can be pointed to the clubs’ lack of clinical edge up front, with Sergio’s men only finding the back of the net in three of these eight matches. They currently sit in seventeenth heading into this matchday, only a point above the drop zone, so a win in this match is necessary against a relegation rival.

Their opponents come into this match after a crucial win in midweek against Real Valladolid. The Bats went behind early on, however they were the better side for the majority of the match in terms of creating chances and drew level through Mouctar Diakhaby with half an hour remaining. Javi Guerra struck home in added time, allowing Los Che to escape the relegation zone.

Valencia also picked up their first win away from home in 2023 last weekend and will be looking to use that win as a confidence booster for this weekend’s match at Cadiz. It would be a huge shock to see a club as big as Valencia go down, however their form this season has been worthy of their position in the table, so they must pick up points to avoid the drop come June.

Score Prediction: Cadiz 1-1 Valencia

Both sides are near the bottom of the table for a reason, and neither are easy on the eye at the moment. Given the home side’s lack of goals and Valencia’s poor run of form away from Mestalla, a draw seems the most likely result here.
