Real Madrid get the chance to win the FIFA Club World Cup when they face Saudi side Al-Hilal in this weekend’s Final in Morocco. Having comfortably won their Semi-Final in the end, Los Blancos will be very strong favourites to win the trophy.

Egypt’s Al Ahly were their opponents in the last four but Real Madrid quickly assumed control of the game with Vini Junior and Fede Valverde on target. Their opponents did grab one back but Rodrygo and Sergio Arribas finished the job in Second Half Stoppage Time to seal a 4-1 win. Carlo Ancelotti would have been pleased to see his young players step up in the absence of big names such as Thibaut Courtois and Karim Benzema who haven’t travelled due to injury.

Transition is increasingly something of a buzz word in Madrid with Ancelotti admitting that this process is something that he is increasingly conscious of and planning for. Primarily that relates to the evolution of the midfield with Toni Kroos and Luka Modric nearing the end of their Real Madrid careers.

However at 35, Benzema may not have long left either as an absolute elite level performer with the likes of Vini, Fede Valverde and Rodrygo, important players both in the present and future. It’ll be a boost for those players, who all scored in the Semi-Final, to feel like they have truly led what should be another successful trophy pursuit.

Al-Hilal may have something to say about that though. They caused a big upset in the Semi-Final by defeating Brazilian giants Flamengo 3-2 with 2 goals from Saudi international Salem Aldawsari who may be their main dangerman. The 31 year old is enjoying a fine period in his career having netted twice at the World Cup including the winner that stunned eventual champions Argentina on matchday 1.

The defending AFC Champions League winners do have a few other recognisable names to fans of European football. Former Manchester United forward Odion Ighalo leads the line while former Villarreal and Atletico Madrid man Luciano Vietto netted their other Semi-Final goal.

Score Prediction: Real Madrid 3-1 Al-Hilal

Al-Hilal do have some genuine firepower to call upon and they could ask questions of Real Madrid here. However they have come through two intense ties already just to reach this point and there’s a danger that they run out of steam to some extent against the European champions.
