Almeria vs Getafe Preview
Wednesday’s LaLiga action includes an important game in the bottom half of the table as Almeria and Getafe aim to head off to the World Cup break with a win. Both sides are at least in the relegation picture at this early stage in the season.
That won’t come as a massive surprise in the case of newly promoted Almeria, but they’ve been showing enough at home to suggest this is a struggle they can ultimately win. Three straight wins at the Power Horse Stadium with three goals scored in every game has given coach Rubi something to build from as he seeks to make his team competitive at this level.
Their poor away form ensures Almeria are still only averaging a point per game this term but it won’t matter too much what happens on the road if they keep winning home games. Rubi has done well to find combinations that seem to work in the final third and it’s also notable that they’ve had 11 different scorers already this season which suggests they do carry a goal threat from various sources.
Getafe meanwhile have been a bit more reliant on Enes Unal who leads their goalscoring tally with 4 while only two other players have netted more than once. There wasn’t much to like about Getafe’s attacking play at the weekend though as they stuttered to a goalless home draw against lowly Cadiz with Quique Sanchez Flores’ side struggling to create much.
They are hampered by three suspensions here which won’t aid their hopes of taking a result from this game. However Getafe are unbeaten in 5 matches overall with the defensive structure looking much more solid than it did in the opening weeks. They’ve also avoided defeat in each of their last 4 away games, conceding only once.

This is a tough one to call with Almeria free-scoring and on a 3-game winning streak at home while Getafe are getting results on their travels.
