Real Valladolid vs Real Betis Preview

Sunday’s action in LaLiga commences at the Jose Zorrilla where Real Betis are the visitors. They pulled off a famous European win on Thursday night in Rome and should take confidence into this game but their hosts will be hoping to take advantage of any fatigue.
Real Valladolid will take a bit of momentum into this one too after their best result of the season so far last time out. They went to Getafe and won 3-2 with Sergio Leon bagging a brace. He should keep his place in attack here after Shon Weissman endured a difficult time of it in their last home match, a late 1-0 defeat to Cadiz where Pacheta’s side certainly created enough chances to win.
Overall, the Real Valladolid boss will be relatively happy with the level of his side’s performances so far. They’ve looked competitive at this level and while a relegation battle does most likely lie ahead, right now they will feel like there are three worse teams than them, although there is clearly a long way to go in the season and plenty of time for things to change.
As for Betis, their impressive rise under Manuel Pellegrini continues to go from strength to strength and they laid a real marker in terms of their Europa League ambitions by going to Roma and winning 2-1 on Thursday night. Luiz Henrique’s late header sealed a famous win which leaves the Andalusian side in a really strong position to go on and win that group.
LaLiga is going well too. Betis are 4th heading into the weekend but did suffer a setback last time out, going down 1-0 at Celta Vigo. Luiz Felipe’s 20th minute red card was a major factor in that loss though and they still competed pretty well with 10 men. They will be favourites to bounce back from that here, but there isn’t much turnaround time between their trip to Rome and this early Sunday kick-off.

Score Prediction: Real Valladolid 1-1 Real Betis
Betis went with a strong side in Rome as you might expect. They do have the likes of Borja Iglesias to bring back in, but there still may be some tired legs after they put in a big shift in the Italian capital and they will also be missing Nabil Fekir to injury. Real Valladolid have shown they can be competitive and the visitors may find it tough to leave with all three points.
