Osasuna vs Valencia Preview

Osasuna and Valencia clash in what could be a really interesting game this Friday in LaLiga. Both sides were widely tipped for mid-table finishes but will be hoping for a bit more after some encouraging performances so far this term.
Osasuna are currently sitting pretty in 6th place and they would move into the Champions League places if they can claim all three points in this one. That’s despite a surprise 2-0 defeat in their last home game against Getafe. Chimy Avila, so often the hero for Osasuna, was the villain with his 1st Half red card a contributing factor in the defeat but Jagoba Arrasate’s side responded well with a strong showing at the Santiago Bernabeu last time out.
Their 1-1 draw against the defending champions sets them up nicely for this game, although again they have a notable absentee due to a ban with key centre-back David Garcia sent off in Madrid. He will certainly be a big miss and Valencia will be hoping they can get a bit more change out of this Osasuna defence than they otherwise might have.
Los Che haven’t been quite as strong on their travels as they have been at home so far this term. They come into this one on the back of a 2-2 draw at Espanyol when a late goalkeeping howler gifted the visitors a point. Despite that piece of good fortune, Gennaro Gattuso still felt that Valencia could have gotten more out of the game and he has been a breath of fresh air at Mestalla this season with a more attacking approach than we’ve been used to from this team in recent years.
It is of course a much changed team with a host of new signings already making positive early impressions. It’s really notable how much depth they do have in some positions now, particularly in midfield where Nico Gonzalez and Yunus Musah will be hoping to forge their way back into the starting XI here. The only midfield certainly right now feels like Hugo Guillamón in the holding role with the 22 year old signing a new deal this week.

Score Prediction: Osasuna 2-2 Valencia
This could be a good one with Valencia playing positive football and Osasuna usually strong at home. The absence of David Garcia should help the visitors carve out some openings in this game but Osasuna have Chimy Avila back and that should ensure they carry plenty of threat themselves. A score draw could be on the cards.
