Celta Vigo vs Real Betis Preview
Celta Vigo and Real Betis meet on matchday seven in LaLiga and this has the makings of a really entertaining game between two teams who usually try to play positive football. Betis are riding high in 3rd heading into the weekend and are hoping to make it six wins from seven here.
As for Celta Vigo, they again fall into the slightly puzzling category of a side that looks really impressive at times but also regularly disappoints. The latter was certainly the case last time out as they collapsed to a 3-0 defeat at Valencia with Fran Cervi’s 59th minute red card a contributing factor. That makes it 7 conceded in 2 games, following on from a much more impressive 3-0 win over Cadiz.
Which Celta will show up here is hard to guess. They are in pretty good shape on the fitness front and new signings such as Oscar Rodriguez and Jorgen Larsen have shown glimpses of quality. However it is still a bit of a work in progress in the final third while defensively, as is often the case with Celta, they still don’t totally convince.
Real Betis will be looking to take advantage of that here and their chances are aided by the return to fitness of Nabil Fekir. They are missing Juanmi to injury though which starves them of another goal threat but with striker Borja Iglesias in such great form it may not matter. The 29 year old has netted 6 goals in LaLiga already this season and was rewarded with a Spain call-up over the international break.
If there is a worry for Betis right now, it’s perhaps the right back position. They failed to get Hector Bellerin back in the summer and Youssouf Sabaly’s injury problems have continued leaving them short on natural options in the position. Martín Montoya made a rare start last time out but doesn’t fully convince and Aitor Ruibal is more suited to a more advanced role so that may be something that Celta look to target.
Team News & Possible Lineups
Possible XI: Marchesin – Galan, Nunez, Aidoo, Mallo – Tapia – Oscar, Beltran, Perez – Aspas, Larsen (4-1-3-2)
Coach: Chacho Coudet
Possible XI: Silva – Moreno, Pezzella, Felipe, Ruibal – Guido Rodriguez, Carvalho – Henrique, Fekir, Canales – Iglesias (4-2-3-1)
Coach: Manuel Pellegrini
Score Prediction: Celta Vigo 2-3 Real Betis
This could be a good game and with the likes of Iago Aspas, Nabil Fekir and Borja Iglesias on the pitch we should get goals. Betis’ squad depth is going to get a really good examination over the coming weeks, but fresh from an international break, the visitors look the more likely victors.
