Real Madrid vs Mallorca Preview

Real Madrid host Javier Aguirre’s Mallorca on Sunday afternoon. The last time both teams met at the Bernabeu, Los Blancos won 6-1 and Marco Asensio had his best performance in years. Let’s see if Mallorca can stop the champions from maintaining their 100% win record.
Vinicius Junior, Luka Modric and Eden Hazard all scored in Real’s 3-0 victory over Celtic at Celtic Park. It was a game of two halves. Celtic were up for the game and brought intensity and quality throughout the entire first half. In the second half, Real started asserting their dominance and Celtic had no response. The only negative takeaway from that night was that Karim Benzema will miss three matches through injury.
This is a big game for Hazard. In midweek, he came on and changed the game but it’s always about the next game in this sport. Benzema’s absence opens the door for the Belgian to shine and build his confidence, form and match sharpness which will only be a good thing for Real Madrid. It’ll be a tough test but they’ll back themselves to come out victorious.
Mallorca drew 1-1 with Girona in their most recent match.Their captain, Antonio Arenas opened the scoring in the 86th minute before Girona’s Samu Sainz equalised from the penalty spot in the 91st minute. The result leaves them sat in mid-table with 5 points from their opening 4 games.
Even though they survived relegation by one point last season, they had the second worst goal difference. The Vermilions will be looking to fix their defensive issues this season which will massively help them in their hunt for survival. So far, the signs are positive with only 3 goals conceded and some of their summer transfer activity looks to have made a difference.

Score Prediction: Real Madrid 3-0 Mallorca
Real Madrid kept their first clean sheet of the season on Tuesday and I expect them to keep another one against Mallorca. There’ll be a different dynamic to their attack without Benzema, but Hazard knows that he has to step up this season. Mallorca will stay disciplined and hit on the counter attack but Real will be too much for them to handle.
