Girona vs Real Valladolid Preview
On Friday evening the first match of this weekend’s LaLiga fixtures will be at the Estadi Montilivi as Girona host Real Valladolid. Both sides are going into this game with an identical record with one win, two losses and a draw and will be hoping to get a run of form together.
Girona left it very late in their visit to the Balearic Islands. Mallorca thought they had won the game with an 86th minute goal from Antonio Raíllo only to concede a penalty in the 88th which was tucked away nicely by Samu Sáiz. It was an evenly balanced match and a draw seemed like the right result.
Going into this match Els Gironistes will still not have Uruguayan Cristhian Stuani who is out for a month due to a benign arrhythmia that has been detected in his heart. When these sides last met it was his penalty that settled it. Losing the striker is a big loss for the team and Head Coach Míchel Sánchez has said it is nothing to worry about and he will be back and raring to go. Girona will be hoping to pick up three points here and build a run of form. Michel will know how important this is but also considering the new players and quite a young squad, this is a work in progress.
Real Valladolid finally got their first win of the season at home to Almería and also left it very late. A well taken goal in the 93rd Minute by Israeli striker Shon Weissman was enough to secure all three points for Los Pucelanos.
Head Coach José Pacheta will be very happy with his team’s performance and his side had plenty of chances to score more. Now is the moment, like Girona, they need to kick on and start registering more wins if they want to avoid a relegation battle. Wins breed confidence and going into this game Valladolid will be confident about their chances of getting a result.

|Ivan Martin, Borja Garcia, Kebe, Stuani, Herrera, Terrats
Possible XI: Juan Carlos – Juanpe, David Lopez, Bueno – Gutierrez, Aleix Garcia, Romeu, Arnau – Riquelme, Saiz – Castellanos (3-4-2-1)

Score Prediction: Girona 2-1 Real Valladolid
History shows us when these two teams play here, we usually don’t see that many goals, although Girona have won 4 of the last 5 meetings at Montilivi. As always between these two, it should be a cagey start and whoever scores first will have a major advantage. Girona at home may have the edge though.
