The Benito Villamarin is the setting for the late game on Friday night in LaLiga. It features two sides with 100% records with the winners certain to go top of the table for a couple of days at least.

To some extent it’s extraordinary that Betis have managed to start the season with back-to-back wins given they’ve been unable to register a large chunk of their squad and have been struggling to fill the substitutes’ bench in their opening two games. They could only name six subs at Mallorca last time out but still managed to win the game 2-1 thanks to two Borja Iglesias penalties.

It wasn’t a vintage performance from Manuel Pellegrini’s team but they showed they can win ugly and should be in a position to name a slightly stronger team here. New signing Luiz Felipe is finally available following registration issues and a suspension which was served last weekend. They also may have Sergio Canales available for the first time this season here and that’s another major boost for Betis heading into this game.

Osasuna will also be confident following back-to-back home wins. The fixture list was relatively kind to them in some ways though with a clearly out of sorts Sevilla rocking up at El Sadar on matchday one with big holes in defence while an injury-ravaged Cadiz were their second opponents. That shouldn’t take anything away from Osasuna’s bright start but this will be a much sterner test.

Jagoba Arrasate has made some interesting calls to start the season, the biggest of which has been the huge show of faith in youngster Aimar Oroz. A fourth tier player last season with Osasuna B, the 20 year old has started both games and netted the winning penalty against Sevilla. Curiously though, he took neither penalty in the win over Cadiz, with Chimy Avila and Kike Garcia successfully taking over the duties in a 2-0 success.

Score Prediction: Betis 2-1 Osasuna

This will be a good test of the credentials of both of these teams. Overall though, Betis have more quality and with home advantage look capable of having the edge on Osasuna. The hosts ought to be at or close to full strength in terms of their starting XI and with the midweek European action yet to start, should be able to get by for 90 minutes, even if there are limited options off the bench again.
