Mallorca vs Real Betis Preview

Mallorca and Real Betis meet on Saturday but uncertainty continues as to just how many Betis players will be able to feature due to their ongoing registration issues. Mallorca will hope to take advantage but will still be wary of the quality Betis possess.
There was a good point for Mallorca on the opening weekend in Bilbao as they held on for a 0-0 draw despite being under heavy pressure at times. There was a promising debut for Predrag Rajkovic in goal and that would have pleased Javier Aguirre. Mallorca used four different goalkeepers last season although none fully convinced so that is one obvious upgrade the Balearic Islanders will be hoping for.
Others may yet come in the transfer window and it does feel like they need to do some late business. If they could get an effective partner for Vedat Muriqi that could make a lot of difference. Kang-in Lee isn’t really a natural striker while Ángel Rodríguez will turn 36 this season. They have spent a fair bit of cash already though, most of it on Muriqi, so may look to use the loan market for a couple of late additions.
Betis are in all kinds of trouble off the pitch right now as they look for solutions that will enable them to register Luiz Felipe, Luiz Henrique, Claudio Bravo, Andres Guardado, Joaquín and Willian José, all of whom remain unregistered and unavailable at the time of writing. Unless they can pull off any Barcelona-style financial gymnastics, the only solution may be selling a big asset such as Nabil Fekir or perhaps Guido Rodriguez.
Losing either would be a significant blow for Betis but despite a very limited substitutes bench, they still cruised to victory in their opening game, beating Elche 3-0 at the Benito Villamarin. Their opponents were reduced to 10 men very early on which of course made things a lot simpler but it was still an encouraging first outing of the new campaign for Manuel Pellegrini and his team.

Score Prediction: Mallorca 1-1 Real Betis
Mallorca frustrated Athletic last time out and they will fancy they can get a result here, particularly if they can stay into the game until late on when the visitors will be hampered by a very limited subs bench. It’s the kind of fixture where both teams may be content enough with a point after decent opening weekend results.
