Almeria vs Real Madrid Preview
Newly promoted Almeria host Real Madrid in both teams’ first LaLiga game of the 2022/23 campaign. Almeria enter this game high on confidence following promotion, sealed on the final day of last season. The same can certainly be said of defending Spanish and European champions Real Madrid who secured their first title of the season on Wednesday after beating Frankfurt 2-0 so confidence and match sharpness won’t be a problem.
Almeria coach Rubi, was a huge factor in their promotion. The former Betis and Espanyol boss led the team to a first place finish in the second tier which handed them automatic promotion. They had the second best attack and best defence in the league last season, scoring 68 while conceding 35. So the assumption can be made that they’ll have a reasonable balance between attack and defence throughout the campaign.
Almeria had a pretty good pre-season. They won 4 and lost 2, conceding 8 and scoring 9 during those matches. In their first game back in LaLiga for 7 years, in front of their own fans against the champions of Europe and Spain, Almeria will be keen to cause an upset.
Real Madrid are on top of the world at the moment though. To top off the successful pre-season tour of
America, they won the UEFA Super Cup, beating Eintracht Frankfurt 2-0.The entire team looks sharp and ready and their dynamic duo up front is ready to cause more chaos for defenders.
Carlo Ancelotti said that he will change the team “a bit” against Almeria which could present Antonio Rudiger with a chance. Maybe he will reveal what the changes will be as the game comes closer. One thing is for sure; Real Madrid will play to win and will want to make a statement to Barcelona that they are here to win again this season.
Almeria: Fernando – Akieme, Babic, Ely, Pozo – Samu Costa, Robertone, De la Hoz – Portillo, Sadiq, Ramazani (4-3-3)
Real Madrid: Courtois – Alaba, Rudiger, Militao, Carvajal – Kroos, Casemiro, Modric – Vini, Benzema, Rodrygo (4-3-3)
Score Prediction: Almeria 1-3 Real Madrid
It’ll be difficult to stop this Madrid team as they are high on confidence and momentum. In the end, it should be a hard fought victory for Los Blancos as Almeria will be up for it, especially in the 1st Half but the away team’s quality should show over 90 minutes.
