This Wednesday we have an intriguing semi-final clash in the Super Cup as Real Sociedad take on Barcelona in the Estadio Nuevo Arcángel in Cordoba.
This tie looks as if it has come at the wrong time for La Real who have only picked up one win in ten competitive games. They still expect to have David Silva missing but they do have Mikel Oyarzabal fully fit again and that is massive going into this match.
Head coach Imanol Alguacil will want another big win on top of their impressive triumph in the Basque Derby at San Mames. This would bring much needed confidence to a team who are just struggling to record victories right now. The last time La Real were in this competition, they did win it, although this was way back in 1982. They will have to be at their best if they want to reach the final.
Barcelona go into this match with a lot of confidence. Ronald Koeman’s side have already beaten La Real this season and they are in a great run of form and have started to click. Lionel Messi is back scoring and looks settled again and that is a big worry for every club that face Barça.
They are though, still leaking a few goals and that is something that Koeman will be working on. In attack Pedri is showing dazzling form and the resurgence of Ousmane Dembele and Antoine Griezmann chipping in with goals make this Barcelona team very dangerous. Koeman will want his side to put on a great performance and move on to the final with the aim of winning his first trophy as Barça boss.
