Getafe vs Celta Vigo Match Preview
The final game on Saturday in La Liga comes from the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez where Getafe are playing host to Celta Vigo. These two teams are operating on similar budgets but while Geta are right in the thick of the race for Champions League qualification, Celta Vigo are battling against relegation.
Getafe have done particularly well this season when you consider they are also having to juggle their Europa League commitments. They host Inter Milan this coming week in the last 16 of that competition but they’ve still managed to win 5 of their last 7 in La Liga. That includes a 1-0 victory at Mallorca last time out. While that may strike you as a typical Getafe scoreline, it’s also worth noting that only four teams in La Liga have scored more goals than them this season, testament to their attacking prowess.
Celta Vigo are certainly not one of those sides. Only Leganes have an inferior goalscoring record than the Galicians who remain in the thick of the battle for survival despite some improved recent results. Celta have only lost 1 of their last 8 league games but 5 of those matches did end all square so they haven’t really put considerable distance between themselves and the bottom three.
Getafe are boosted by the returns of wide men Allan Nyom and Marc Cucurella following suspension ahead of this game. They will also be delighted to see that Iago Aspas is out for Celta Vigo with the forward banned for this one. Fedor Smolov should lead the line as a result for the visitors.

Celta have improved lately and they are defending well enough to make this tough for Getafe. However the absence of Iago Aspas is huge. Despite a slightly below-par season by his standards, Aspas has still scored 41% of his team’s goals in La Liga and without him you have to wonder where their goal threat is going to come from in this match.
