This is a huge game for Granada who are on the brink of a return to the top flight after two seasons in the second tier. Victory here will secure promotion while they would also be promoted on Tuesday even if they lose if rivals Malaga do them a favour by getting a result against Albacete. It’s not all about the visitors though. Mallorca are also dreaming of a return to La Liga after an even longer absence. They are on the brink of at least securing a shot at the play-offs.

Most of the focus will inevitably be on the visitors. They won a crucial away game a fortnight back by beating 3rd place Albacete to open up a cushion on their nearest challengers for the second automatic promotion position. They missed the chance to seal the deal last weekend though when they could only draw at home to Cadiz but they still take good momentum into this game with 14 points from their last 6 at the most vital stage of the campaign.

Mallorca meanwhile have been in strong overall form with 8 wins from their last 12 propelling them into strong play-off contention. However they are just stuttering towards the line. 2 of their last 3 matches have ended in defeat including a damaging loss away to 7th placed Deportivo La Coruna last time out. They currently sit in 5th with a 3 point advantage on both Depor and Cadiz. At most only two of those sides will end up in the play-offs though and this clearly is a tough game for Mallorca.

Score Prediction: 1-1 Draw

This is likely to be a close affair with the stakes high for both clubs and not a great deal to choose between the sides. Some of Granada’s recent performances haven’t been great despite strong results and they might just be content to take a point here with a home game against mid-table Alcorcon to come on the final day. That outcome could also suit Mallorca.
