Espanyol vs Levante Preview

The Saturday action in LaLiga kicks off at the RCDE Stadium where Espanyol are hoping to build on what has been a strong restart to the season. They’ve picked up a couple of good results so far and will see this as another good opportunity to put another much needed three points on the board.

While they remain in the relegation zone, Espanyol have been one of the most impressive sides since the restart in this league, and not just amongst the struggling sides. On paper, they have plenty of top flight quality in their ranks following their extensive January recruitment and they were totally dominant against Alaves last weekend, winning 2-0 without even facing a shot on goal.

Both their games so far have featured early red cards with Espanyol reduced to 10 men in just the 16th minute at Getafe in midweek when Bernardo Espinosa saw red. They didn’t really come under any real pressure until the closing stages though and fully merited the 0-0 draw with which they left.

As for Levante, they’ll also be happy with their results since returning to action. They’ve drawn with Valencia and Sevilla, salvaging a point from each game with dramatic late levellers. Those results have ensured they’ve maintained their advantage on the bottom three and they’d be as good as safe if they can claim victory here.

Espanyol vs Levante Predictions

Score Prediction: 2-0 Espanyol

Espanyol have looked much more solid defensively in their two games so far than they have done at any point previously this season. It seems clear that Abelardo has got them organised and they have enough quality in midfield and attack to break down Levante and claim another vital win here.
