El Clasico is the biggest fixture in world football, with meetings between Barcelona and Real Madrid the most-watched games on the Spanish football calendar. The clubs meet twice per season in LaLiga, but often more frequently than that, with regular clashes in cup competitions and sometimes pre-season fixtures.
Below, we’ll look at when El Clasico is next going to be played, the recent results between the clubs and all the scheduled and potential meetings in the 2025/26 season.
Attending the big match is possible, although often very expensive with demand usually high. Anyone looking at getting tickets for El Clasico will need to pay attention to on-sale dates and be prepared to pay much more than for a regular LaLiga fixture.
When is El Clasico next going to be played?
Date | Weekend of 25th/26th October 2025 |
Time | TBC |
Venue | Santiago Bernabeu, Madrid |
Competition | LaLiga |
The next Clasico match will be on the weekend of 25th/26th October 2025 and Real Madrid will be at home at the Santiago Bernabeu. It will take place on matchday 10 of the new season in LaLiga, with the exact kick-off date and time likely to be confirmed around a month before the match.
Both sides will have been in Champions League action a few days previously, and the fixture may give us the first strong indication of the relative level of the two teams.
This will be the first Clasico as Los Blancos boss for Xabi Alonso, and it’s likely to be the first really big game at the Bernabeu on Real Madrid’s 2025/26 schedule.
If the fixture is finally scheduled to take place on the Sunday, it will take place exactly a year to the day of Barcelona’s 4-0 victory in this fixture last season, when they ran riot after the interval in their first competitive Clasico under Hansi Flick.

Barcelona had the better of the first two competitive El Clasico fixtures during the 2024/25 season, winning both convincingly, with nine goals scored. They also won a pre-season friendly in New Jersey 2-1, thanks to two goals from Pau Victor, although neither side were at full strength for that game.
They then edged out Los Blancos in the Copa del Rey final in extra time, in a more competitive affair in Seville in April, before coming from behind to complete a Clasico clean sweep and effectively end the title race in May 2025.
Real Madrid haven’t defeated their rivals since a 3-2 victory at the end of the 2023/24 LaLiga season, a much better campaign for the side from the capital which delivered major Spanish and European silverware.

Last meeting: Barcelona 4-3 Real Madrid
There were 23 goals in the four competitive Clasicos last season, with seven coming during a remarkable game at the Estadi Olimpic in May. Real Madrid raced into a two-goal lead inside 15 minutes thanks to a brace from Kylian Mbappe, yet their defensive issues were soon exposed again and again by a rampant Barca who scored four goals in 27 minutes to lead by two at the break.
Mbappe wasn’t done yet though, completing his hat-trick to set a new record for the most goals scored by a Real Madrid player in their debut season at the club. It wasn’t enough to prevent another Clasico defeat in Carlo Ancelotti’s bruising final year in an otherwise successful second spell at the club.
Barcelona sealed the deal a week later, by winning the league title at the home of local rivals Espanyol.

As it stands, there are only two definite Clasico meetings scheduled for the 2025/26 season. Both are in LaLiga, with the first on the final weekend of October, and the second on the second weekend in May at Camp Nou.
This schedule largely replicates last season when the clubs met on matchdays 11 and 35. This time around it’ll be matchdays 10 and 35, with the second game again scheduled late in the season in Barcelona to allow time for as much of the Camp Nou renovation work to be completed as possible.
There’s also the potential for meetings in three cup competitions. The most likely is the Spanish Supercopa which will again take place in Saudi Arabia in January. Barcelona face Athletic Club, while Real Madrid face Atletico Madrid in the semi-finals, meaning there’s a decent chance we’ll get a Clasico final for the fourth year in a row.
The Champions League schedule and lack of country protection also means we could get a Clasico in that competition at any point in the knockout stage, while the clubs could also potentially be paired together in the Copa del Rey.
