Getafe vs Almeria Preview
Getafe and Almeria meet in a very important game at the bottom of LaLiga this week. The visitors are still winless on the road this season, but this would be an unbelievably good time to break their duck as they face fellow relegation candidates.
Getafe boss Quique Sanchez Flores was left fuming by his side’s Second Half display at Mallorca at the weekend as they let a 1-0 Half-Time lead slip to lose 3-1 against a side that had only scored more than once in one home game all season prior to that. It was an opportunity missed for the South Madrid club who are now in the midst of a vital week with another six-pointer this Sunday against Espanyol.
The results of these two games will go a long way to determining Getafe’s fate. While it does feel like they perhaps have a bit more at both ends of the pitch than some of their rivals, the fact they are only one point above the relegation zone suggests otherwise. Defeat here would most likely lead to renewed calls for Sanchez Flores to go with the Getafe board having so far remained loyal to their boss.
The same could be said of Almeria, although as a newly promoted team they would have anticipated some degree of a struggle this season. Rubi has had a knack of masterminding some crucial victories whenever Almeria have dropped into a position of real peril but they come into this following a disappointing 2-1 home defeat against Athletic Club.
5 of their final 8 games are away from the Power Horse Stadium and while their remaining home fixtures are relatively winnable, Almeria are surely going to need to find an away win if they want to remain at this level. That won’t come easily while they are conceding so many goals though with 2 or more goals against in 11 of their last 12 road games in all competitions.

We saw a really poor performance in the end from Getafe at the weekend but their overall level has been relatively competitive in recent months.
