Granada vs Burgos Preview

Two promotion hopefuls meet in the Segunda Division this weekend. Granada have the division’s best home record while Burgos are the best travellers so this promises to be a good one.
Granada come into the game on the back of a derby clash against Andalusian rivals Malaga on Thursday. They came from behind to collect a point with a 1-1 draw but their inability to deliver on the road continues to thwart their promotion push. Fixing that remains the immediate priority for the recently appointed Paco Lopez.
He won’t want anything to change at Los Carmenes though. Lopez’s first two home outings as Granada boss have seen his side hammer Albacete 4-0 before a really important 3-1 win against fellow promotion hopefuls Alaves. They remain unbeaten at home with 7 wins and 2 draws from their 9 fixtures in Granada and 79% of their points have come in front of their own fans.
Burgos meanwhile average 1.78 points per game on the road which is an outstanding record in a league where few teams seem to travel well. They’ve won all of their last 3 away games against Las Palmas, Racing and Ponferradina so they will certainly travel south with confidence and with the hope of becoming the first visiting team to win at Los Carmenes this season.
There was a midweek setback though as Burgos suffered a 2-1 home defeat against fellow promotion hopefuls Eibar. It wasn’t enough to knock them out of the top two though and they really have been the surprise package in LaLiga SmartBank this term. They’ll be hoping to maintain their form over the coming weeks as we move into the second half of the season.

Score Prediction: Granada 1-0 Burgos
Burgos have the league’s best defensive record and are sure to come here with a fairly cautious approach. However if there’s one team who can break them down, it’s Granada at Los Carmenes where they have scored quite freely at times. They will struggle to secure another big win here with a narrow Granada victory more likely against a strong Burgos side.
