Real Valladolid vs Celta Vigo Preview

Real Valladolid and Celta Vigo face off on Wednesday in LaLiga and it’s a game that both sides will think they have a chance of winning. Neither have been in terrific form of late but three points here would be a big boost.
Real Valladolid have collected 8 points from 9 games on their return to the top flight after just one season in the second tier. It’s a return that does point towards a likely relegation struggle although privately at least they would have expected that this term. Pacheta has at least made them competitive although they’ll need to improve on a tally of just one home goal so far this season.
That came in a 1-0 win against Almeria but they’ve since failed to make the most of almost total dominance and a host of chances in a game against Cadiz that ended 1-0 to the visitors. They then toiled against the ten men of Betis for more than the half the game in their last outing at the Jose Zorrilla.
Celta’s defence is one that should at least give them some hope here of improving on that record as the Galicians rarely look certain at the back. Chacho Coudet’s side have the 3rd worst defensive record in the league and they have lost 4 of their last 5 matches heading into this.
They’ve played some good sides but coming up just short in those matches is becoming a bit of a trend now and that’s despite some encouraging performances. Their reliance on Iago Aspas is, yet again, a concern with Jørgen Strand Larsen struggling for goals so far while fellow summer arrival Goncalo Paciencia is suspended here.

Score Prediction: Real Valladolid 1-1 Celta Vigo
It’s a tough game to call with neither side doing enough right now to suggest they will get the win. Real Valladolid ought to be very competitive on home soil but you can never rule out a Celta side with Iago Aspas in it and the visitors will feel like scoring once may be enough to at least get a point against this opposition.
