Real Madrid vs Real Betis Preview

Real Madrid

Real Madrid host Real Betis this Friday night at the Santiago Bernabeu in the last domestic fixture of both team’s campaigns. Betis will be hoping to cause a shock here after securing European football for next season whilst Los Blancos will be looking to give club legends Marcelo, Isco and Gareth Bale a worthy send off before beginning preparations for the club’s seventeenth European Cup final.

Real Madrid enter this game after drawing 1-1 at the Estadio Nuevo Mirandilla against Cadiz last weekend. Carlo Ancelotti heavily rotated and saw his team dominate the first twenty-five minutes of the game before Cadiz started to take over. Mariano edged Los Merengues in front after an excellent solo run and assist from Rodrygo Goes before Ruben Sobrino’s deflected strike before half-time levelled the score. In the second half, Andriy Lunin gave away a penalty on Alvaro Negredo, but made up for his error with an excellent save from twelve yards from the Spanish forward.

Real Madrid have enjoyed an excellent campaign which has seen the team wrap up the LaLiga title with four games to go as well as the development of young talents such as Vinicius Jr, Eder Militao and Eduardo Camavinga. Although this match against Betis won’t count for much, it will allow Carlo Ancelotti’s players to warm up for their Champions League final the following weekend against Liverpool.

Real Betis too have had a season to remember. Despite the disappointment of losing out on a Champions League spot, Los Verdi-Blancos won their first Copa Del Rey title since 2005 and have given their fans exciting football to watch, especially with the flair of midfield duo Sergio Canales and Nabil Fekir.

Betis’ last outing came as a 2-0 victory over relegation-threatened Granada. Two outstanding moves finished off by Juanmi allowed the Andalusians to take all three points, although city rivals Sevilla simultaneously grabbing a late draw against Atletico Madrid meant a top four place was one step too far for Manuel Pellegrini’s side.

  • Real Madrid’s last victory at home against Betis came in the 2016-17 campaign, a win which was sealed by a late goal from Sergio Ramos.

Real Madrid vs Real Betis Predictions

Score Prediction: Real Madrid 2-2 Real Betis

With two top sides facing each other with nothing on the line, conservative football will unlikely be on show as both teams will be looking to entertain their fans to see out the season. Expect Real Madrid to give minutes to their departing legends as well give their top players a run out ahead of their huge European clash next weekend.
